Used Fast Intentions CBE damaged during shipment
1 Attachment(s)
Just crossed the boarder to pick up my used FI exhaust purchased from a member of the forum.
As I was taking off the bubble wrap, I noticed one of the flanges were missing from the muffle can. I dig to the bottom of the box and find it completely broken off. :( I'm assuming it was damaged during shipment as the pics provided by the seller everything looked good. Can I still install the system if the flange is broken? Should or can I file a claim or anything against UPS for the damaged product? Thanks in advance guys. |
Only way a claim will be approved is if the box shows corresponding damage as well. If so, the seller will have to file the claim I believe. Should be a cheap fix though for a shop to just weld it back on.

You still need the flange. However, a muffler shop could spot weld the flange back on with minimal cost. Heck, they'd probably include it with the price of the install.
|
Give Tony a call, and or find a shop that can TIG weld it, shouldn't cost more then 20 bucks.
|
Doesn't necessarily have to be TIG but I would recommend it for a cleaner weld and less chance of splatter getting on stuff. You'd probably have to find a shop that specializes in performance parts to find TIG welding...most small exhaust shops only do MIG or stick.

if the box has damage you can claim it through the shipping company, if not it could be something you could claim through the exhausts warranty... but overall it should be an easy fix if everything else seems ok so that you don't have to send it back and deal with a warranty

This isn't a flange, it's a hanger. Any exhaust shop should be able to weld it for $10
|
Thanks for the input, you guys put my mind at ease.
Gonna take it to my muffler shop for install tomorrow. I'll post up after-photos :driving: |

Got it welded back on at a very well known welder for $20.
Exhaust is getting installed as we speak. |

Exhaust is on and wow, the sound is amazing especially at high rpms. Very deep and exotic. Looks even better.
There is some noticeable drone on the highway around 65mph and it's quite loud in the cabin upon acceleration around 2k rpm. I have the system with 12" resonators. Anyone with 18" resonators can chime in and tell me their experience regarding the sound of the system? I might switch the X pipe to the 18". Would it make a big difference? Just a TINY bit loud for my taste! (And the gf :shakes head:) |
