Stock Resonator Delete, Anyone?

I'm still searching for the poor man's fix for better exhaust sound. The muffler delete was a bold move with a super aggressive tone but too loud for my taste.

Default Stock Resonator Delete, Anyone?

I'm still searching for the poor man's fix for better exhaust sound. The muffler delete was a bold move with a super aggressive tone but too loud for my taste. Plan B is a resonator delete but maintaining the stock muffler. Has anyone done this yet?

Much worse than what you have already tried. Extremely loud and drony, and tons of rasp. Resonators are a must, mufflers not so much. I did research on this and found a handful of g37's running this way. Absolute suicide for the exhaust note.

I would suggest welding up a custom exhaust using a magnaflow canister or a vibrant dual resonator setup. I will offer to do it if you like, I would just need your car for an afternoon or evening. I have a saclam silencer on mine, otherwise I would mock it up on mine and provide it that way.

My other recommendation would be to do resonated test pipes. Bar none you will get the best performance and sound out of this with the stock exhaust...It will save you a little over the price of some HFC. I point you to Fast Intentions for their product. Plus if you go with their exhaust in the future, you will stay consistent.

Oh yeah, by the time you experiment three times with a cheap solution... you could have gone straight for the best choice for your budget. Hence why I dropped some coin on my exhaust because I have learned the hard way in the past. Just do it and you will enjoy your car so much more, I go for random drives in the middle of the night just to hear my exhaust whine.

too much experimenting leads to money down the drain...its better spent on someone that designs and builds cbe's for a living...

I too point you in the direction of; non other THAN *!Tony!* (crowd cheers)

Yep, I'm realizing this...I was considering delving deeper and changing the resonators along with keeping the muffler delete. But at that point, I'd be halfway into a true CBE. So, done with the self-designed custom idea and onto a true CBE. I just can't make up my mind!

lol...if you go with F.I. CBE resonators either 12" or 18", I know you wont be disapointed...

DIGItonium's video is a great example of the sound difference in stock and 2 aftermarket cbe...

I think you're right. My only worry is drone. For me, drone is intolerable and makes me feel like I have a ricer exhaust since I've never heard a ferrari drone.

Tony says he thinks there is little to none and I trust him. I think the final thing to sell me on the FI CBE is a decibel reading so I can see how much quieter than the muffler delete it is. I hope it's about 10-20db quieter and then my order would be placed .

Hey Nick,

Thanks for all the advice. I agree that going with a true aftermarket CBE will be easier in the end instead of paving the way into my own iteration. I just don't know how you guys settle on one CBE over another based on stupid YouTube videos alone!
