While a full system is much more refined and liveable, I guarantee you'll miss the sound of the delete!

Just an update. I added HFCs to my Stillen catback and it's really brought back some of the thrill of the muffler delete while still being completely 'liveable'. The only thing it doesn't match is the off-throttle burble that the muffler delete has.

I tried this the other day and the sound was surprisingly quiet! It was just a tad louder than the Spoon exhaust on my old RSX, which by many peoples standards is very loud. It was a pleasure to actually be able to hear the car with the music volume up. Stock wise, any time the music is above just barley audible, you can hardly hear the car. It convinced me away from the Nismo catback to the F.I. instead.

Like just deleting and not getting any pipes? Its easy to get off by yourself. The hardest partis just getting it off the hangers which takes only some elbow grease.

Save your cash and DIY

Weld the pipes onto the stock pipes? No thats not good. Have them make flanges like the OP did. You never want them to weld pipes onto the stock mid pipes..

sorry to bring up an old thread! but quick question..
im just wondering for general knowledge of our car, when you guys removed your mufflers did you lose torque as you lost back pressure? or do the stock cats create enough back pressure that the loss is minuscule?
if this is true, would that mean adding test pipes or high flow cats to a muffler delete setup would actually lose torque as there is virtually zero back pressure throughout the exhaust?

Hence why we call it the silencer in UK and not muffler. Sounds good though.

Default Muffler delete - High Quality sounds and video!

I have seen many videos of guys doing Muffler deletes, and honestly, none of the videos do justice to the sound the car actually produces.

So, me being the nice guy, I recorded some high quality sounds and video of my muffler deleted Z while stalling and while driving. Shifting up, down, you name it.

Check out the video and leave a comment if you liked it:

Final verdict of do or dont: If you are poor like me and cant afford a decent exhaust system, DO IT! You wont regret it. It's as close to the real thing as it gets.

I am assuming this can be done but I figure I would ask. Has anyone used the stock muffler for parts? In other words, can the muffler be cut off and the flanges and exhaust tips be reused? I am assuming they can be; just want to make sure I don't need to buy my own tips. Anyone know what the size of the stock piping is? My Z is in storage so I can't measure it myself.
