@Ewrjontan that is exactly what I had done the first time: cut out the exhaust tips and weld it to the end of straight pipes because I couldnt find exhaust tips to match my Z tips, and they were too expensive when I found one.
Be careful though, because: 1) You will be ruining a pretty good muffler 2) You would at some point want to put it back to stock either for Registration inspection or for Z re-sale, and at that time, you would have to re-weld and it's not very pretty. Here's what I suggest: Get a set of cheap tips (either Z or Mustangs) and use them to create brand new pipes. Leave the stock muffler as it is so that whenever you want to put it back, you just have to unscrew 4 bolts and voila! Hope this helps man! |

Thanks for the info. The stock muffler isn't really going to sell for much and that's if I can even sell it; honestly, if I were to not use it for parts, it would just sit in the garage forever or get thrown out. I don't plan on putting it back nor do I need it for inspection/emissions where I am at. Good to know that the tips are useable I appreciate the info.
The stock muffler piping is 2.25 inches in diameter. Did you use the same size piping or did you increase it? The AAM short tails is 2.5" so I was considering going with that. Last edited by Ewrjontan; 02-05-2017 at 05:16 PM. |

I meant reselling the Z not the muffler lol.
Good to know you live in a place where they arent so uptight on the inspection. I welded whatever pipes were available and they were a little bigger, so I'm guessing they were 2.5". I think the AAMs would be just perfect. Let me know how you like the sound once you are done! |
