What should to do before install exhaust system
I just ordered a Ark grip 2 exhaust and got tracking number today. it will arrive this week
There are alot of custom shop that specifically do the exhaust, but i dont know them, and they will not let me in working area to see them install the exhaust. The shop of my friend that i know well, is not specific in after market part, they just regular mechanic shop (although they do body work and paint) My question is that can a regular shop do something like allign exhaust (problem that alot of people have on Ark grip) or i must go to place where they had banner on street specific in exhaust ? And what should i do. Disconect negative on batteries ? to prevent engine check light after installation ? If you get experience please help, anything you regret not done before install ? take off the old one first?
seriously though there is nothing special to do, unbolt the old and bolt up the new. make sure alignment is good before completely tightening them down.

The only thing to be careful of is NOT to use impact tools while doing this. Our O2 sensors are very fragile with regards to the vibration of air tools and will break (internally) as a result. Beyond that, there is no reason that you should get a CEL by just adding a CBE.

like gomer said, never heard of a CEL with just the cat back being installed. have heard of it with HFC or cat deletes.

Not sure if this is valid, but I did it after installing HFCs and CBE. No harm in it; my subjective assessment is that it pulls a little harder.

You dont have to unplug the battery... you can so it will soft reset the ECU as mentioned, but you can also reset the ECU with the car in accessory mode (it think?) and pushing the gas pedal in a certain pattern. I forget the process but you can youtube a video of what to do, I did it the peddle way after I installed my exhaust and HFC.
But literally you can go in your drive way, jack up the car, unbolt the old exhaust and bolt up the new exhaust and that is it. Extremely simple, you might be thinking this through a little too much. Any exhaust shop, or any shop at all, can install the exhaust for you very easily and everything should be aligned fine as long as they arent lazy or rushing.... or just suck at what theyre doing. have fun!

Not disconnect batteries means nothing happen (well if somethings happen=> reset ECU manually) got it guys. thanks for replies. that is why i refer to go to my friend shop. they are friendly and do whatever you want in your own way. I bring my own can of oil and change the oil myself at their workshop, pay them fee + tips . He was very happy cause he dont do anything . I was happy because i can work on my own car the way i want i live in an APT so that is the only way to take care of my babe |
