I'm having an argument with a guy online with the evo vs. the Z stock for stock. I've went against my friend's X and just blew past him once I got into 3rd gear. I"m arguing that the only reason they can get into mid 13's 1/4 mile is because of traction at launch while he's saying they're very close. I've driven the evo and just doesn't feel very quick especially after 2nd gear. I bought the Z because it handles beautifully at any speed and its the quickest car in its price range (minus the camaro which is going for closer to 40k) in stock form let alone what a few mods will produce. I just get angry when people look at edmunds data and say yea an evo is just as fast because they have similar 1/4 mile times when they've never experienced what both cars can do for themselves which I have. The Z pulls much harder in 3rd gear which is where real world acceleration comes into play.
