Hey gang,

Forgive me for posting it in this forum but it is most active and I was hoping to get a quick response.

Thanks guys.

Edit: Thanks mods :P

Nissan calls them "dynamic dampers." See section EX of the FSM for more details.

Big-a$$ exhaust vibration if you remove them.

So do I need these on or not? If I hold onto one of them with my hand the rattle stops. What gives?

Is the rattle coming from the dampers? If so, I'd make sure everything is tight. If the rattle is coming from elsewhere, you need to track it down.

Yeah that's what I said ... it's coming from one of those things.

Then make sure the mounting bolts are tight and that the damper is tight on the bracket. If you can't fix it, get a new one. It's probably best not to remove them unless you are racing the car - going by the name, they are probably for NVH (see 6MT's comment above).

Aftermarket exhausts dont have these. I dont think removing it will make that much of a difference. Take it off. If its unbearable, put it back on.

It's a vibration dampener that reduces Noise,Vibration,Harshness. If it's rattling then it is either loose or defective. Aftermarket exhausts don't have these and are fine without them so tighten or remove it or replace it if it's defective.

It seems to be tightly on but something inside of it is rattling. By the way my exhaust system is Stillen... Why are these on if aftermarket exhaust don't have them?

If you have a stillen then how do you still have these on the car? That system includes them still?

Because aftermarket increases "N" VH.
