Which intake should I buy?
First of all, thank you everyone for replying and giving your input on a few previous threads. After long thought and research, I ordered the FI exhaust system. I did not order the RHFC yet but am 90% sure I will before my exhaust ships in 7 weeks.
Having said that, the only mods I will do for performance will be exhaust, rhfc, and maybe intake. After hearing feedback from last thread concerning the intake, I figured this was worth starting a new thread. I have narrowed the I takes down to the following. 1. Injen sp1989. $490.00 2. Injen sp1990. $499.99 (what's difference?) 3. Stillen generation 2 $422.00 4. Stillen generation 3 $535.00 Questions: 1. How much estimate hp will these add? 2. Which ones require removing the front bumper? And is it the full actual bumper that has to come off? 3. Which ones are easiest to install and maintain (changing filters ) 4. Do these filters last similar to regular air filters 5. If I do the intake as well as other mods, do I need a tune? I have heard no and yes. Some say you can lose hp if tune isn't necessary. Thanks for all your help |

Also, if there is a better intake system out there let me know. Not set in these, they just seems to be the best ones I saw online. Don't care if I spend a few more bucks to get a good one.

either buy the Stillen G3 or get a set of silicone MAF hoses and K&N drop ins. Stillen for the most power, or drop ins so you don't have to pull the bumper to clean the filters. Do not buy any intake that pulls air from the engine compartment. If you're not willing to pull the bumper (a 15 minute job) then go with drop ins.

Forever. They're K&Ns. Buy the cleaning kit and wash them every 10-15k like you would with the drop ins.

Stillen doesn't make them. Do some searching for people's results.

Probably worth mentioning that installing the Gen 3 requires some slight modification (dremel preferred) to the radiator support brackets. Not a huge deal but it is something that is unreversible.
Pulling the bumper to clean the filters is cake once you've done it once. |

Z1 Silicone Post-MAF Intake Hoses
These are the MAF hoses you want. If you buy the Mishimoto ones you make baby Jesus cry.

I heard that the Stillen Gen 3 air filters last 20k miles, but I guess it really depends. I would definitely think b/w 10-20k miles, so I would go for the avg. (15k).

I vote for R2C intakes. They look great, easy installation. The filters are super easy to clean because they are dry and do not have to be oiled. and the biggest plus I saw was NO BUMPER REMOVAL.

Bumper removal is way too easy to use that as a reason not to get a CAI. It's a fifteen minute job.

If you can't get the filters out of the engine bay getting an intake is worthless. Pick up the silicone intake pipe and drop in filter combo from the Z1 link a few posts up and call it a day
