The stillen 3rd generation long tube intakes mount directly behind the radiator. Very unlikely that you'd hydrolock it unless you say...drive it into a lake (in which case you have larger problems)

My vote is for the Stillen G3 long tube intakes. They add power everywhere in the rev range, sound great, and look great in the engine bay. I chose Stillen as these intakes continue to show the best power gains out of all the intakes but you do have to modify the radiator core support to fit them. To me, it was worth it though.

I approve this message!!

p.s.

No issues if installed properly.

K&N drop ins and HPS tubes.

I've yet to see a back to back dyno where any of the SRI's or CAI's net better gains than the drop ins + tubes, and in any case even if the gain is 3-5 more whp, that is NOT worth the 2-3 times greater price tag IMO.

Gotta Pay if you wanna play! ;)

I did the R2C. They are short rams and very easy to install and less chance of a water lock. I don't think that they are much louder than the stock airboxes. I did do it 10 days after I bought the car so comparing them to stock is very difficult.

Andy, head over to the Intake/Exhaust section. You'll find enough information, opinions, dyno results, and delusions to give you the answer you seek (or totally confuse you!)

HPS tubes = ~$110
K&N drop ins = ~$90
Total = ~$200

Stillen G3 = ~$525

When there's no clear evidence of significantly better gains and what evidence there is points to an improvement of less than 5 whp, that's a lot of extra pay for very little additonal play.

Just sayin...

I'm sure they look and sound cool tho'.

Shado, I will do whatever you say. I don't want to be shot in the head over a plate of pasta. :ugh2:

KaienZ34 02-25-2011 08:20 PM

Damn near all the intakes only add power high up in the RPM range. That being said i've got the gen 3's and love them, but then agian i didn't buy them they came with my 2nd Z, i stole the parts from so if it had injen or (insert random intake name here) that's what i would have now. :tiphat:

Majority will go for Stillen G3 but it's kinda expensive compare to others.I have one more question.what effect will gain after changing higher cc injectors?

KaienZ34 02-25-2011 10:48 PM

Are you going FI ??

Now THAT is a good deal.

For that price, even if it makes the same power or only a smidge more, but causes no driveability issues and sounds great, then WIN!

Without tuning? High fuel trims and a CEL.

You don't need new injectors unless you are getting a turbo or sc.
