When you used the term "such a small area" I thought you meant how it fit as opposed to how it works. Sorry. Actually, I put the K&N drop in's first and then the tubes. I really can't discern much gain, but I do think that it sounds better than the stock tubes. I don't know if that is because of the tubes or the drop in's however. I have a Stillen CBE that really ramps up the sound anyway so it's hard to tell if it really made much difference. As others have stated, they dino'd the drop in's at a 6hp gain, and I would imagine that the tubes may add another 1 or 2. They are quite smooth where the stock tubes were not.

I installed the HPS intake tubes with K&N filters a couple of days ago. My butt dyno says 5 easy. :)

Seriously, though, they look good and the sound is slightly different. Corsport claims a dyno proven 6 HP improvement on their site for just the tubes.

Thats also an important point that i need to know to.

Anyone ever try K&N's air intake system? K&N claims 14 hp increase(?)

Yea I wish Stillen would test it out on the Nismo. I want to order these but wont until i know what that brace does exactly...

I thought I knew what intakes I wanted (R2c) but I've always wanted a CAI. Is the GEN 3 a wet based filter? and what does that mean in terms of maintaining it? I have only ever had SRI's.....btw LOVE those Z1 powder coated GEN 3's!

Does anyone know if you can fit a Jim Wolf or R2c filters on the Stillen Gen 3's? I think it would make for an unbeatable combo!

So if we offered a dry filter version of the intake (or dry filter upgrade/replacement for others).. that would be a win in your book?

Not out of the question.. K&N builds a great filter, but there is some cleaning application with the oiling..

And let's take the MAF issue out of the equation.. it's not a reality, K&N has fought that internet rumor hard.. as long as the application of the oil is done even semi-correctly..

But that being said, you're asking for dry filters on the Gen 3's?

YES! I think since Z1 has the options for painting your intake now you might as well be able to choose between a wet or dry filter

The reason I went with my Injen was 1, black paint (no polishing) and 2, Dry flow filters (no oiling) 3, I had experience with these from my G35 ;)

All I am saying is give people the option and you have the intake market in your hands :p

Just speaking for myself, I prefer dry filters. I also have never been a fan of K&N (just a personal preference). I don't doubt their R&D but K&N would be my last choice. As to the MAF issue, I'm not sure what that's about....I guess I haven't got to that page yet.

yes dry filter is WIN! Especially a dry one that can be cleaned and reused:tup:

Still curious what you guys think would happen if you slapped on an R2c filter on a Stillen Gen3. You think that the HP gains would decrease or increase?
