You can get almost the same hp as the long tube intakes with silicone maf hoses and k&n drop in filters and spend $150 or so.

So is there any actual proof that Z1 silicone hoses and k&n drop in filters make as much HP as the long tube CAI? If so, what is the use of going to the more expensive CAI's? Just aesthetics?
Thanks. |

There is no proof and that is not possible. Just do some research and you'll find the long tube style make the most power.

Also, the description from HPS is showing dyno numbers for the tubes alone: "Fits Nissan 2009-2013 370Z 3.7L VQ37VHR. Replaces Stock OEM Restrictive Air Intake Hose, improves air flow, reduces heat soak and does NOT trigger check engine light. Delivers dyno-proven performance gains of +6.77 Whp, +6.38 Ft/lbs without any re-tuning. "

As far a gains per dollar the silicone intake pipes and drop in filters is the most cost effective, but they don't come close to getting you 18-20 whp gains. It just depends on what your goals are. Long Tube intakes aren't for everyone.

The Nismo R-tune CAI have a deeper and louder growl and still gains as much whp as the others as well. Also some other cool specs about the intakes are the water lock filters and no modification being needed to the front crash bar. Most modification is having the holding bracket screwed into a mounting surface to hold them in place. So win, win. https://conceptzperformance.com/nism...z34_p_7713.php

You may pick up a 5 - 8 more up top. The extent to which that is worth it to you is something you'll have to mull over...
Anyway, grab a few beers and skim through this thread for lots and lots of dynos, before and after tuning, various mods, and so forth. Again, bring beer. Proven Power Dyno Database Thread

That was the average on a stock Z Sport with 91 octane on a dynojet. We see a range of 15-23 whp depending on the different factors. Fuel, Altitude, Wheel Weight, Additional mods. If you already have an exhaust you don't see as large of a peak gain as they power gains don't add linearly.

Both are excellent options for exhaust. If you're open to it we would love to earn your business for all your parts needs
