You'd have to put the entire front end of the car under water.

Like drive down a boat ramp until the water is up over the hood.

Which would also make the stock boxes hydro-lock. (though it would probably kill the engine before it sucked enough water in to matter)

There is no way in hell you can hydro lock the Stillen G3 intakes. Take a look here for filter location STILLEN 370Z Generation 3 Ultra Long Intake Released! : STILLEN

For the gen 3s you have to shave part of the front core support. It's not just 100% bolt in. You will have to trim the support with a dremel tool around the hole where the intake tube goes to the front of the radiatior. If you are not technically inclined to do this i would just pay the fair price of 175$ and have someone with more experience do it. You have to remove the bumper and old intakes etc etc, things could easily get complicated if you're not a DIYer.

Super easy to install the Stillen intakes. It was the first mod I installed. I have never worked on cars before so I brought a 6 pack of beer over to my friends house and he helped me. Took us an hour to get it installed. Follow the DIY here on the forums and it is really really easy.

Thanks guys! I'm ordering my g3s tomorrow and gonna install them at a shop after my finals finish. I would prefer to do it at a shop cuz if for whatever reason they mess up i can take my car back and fix the problem with them. Then in 2 months I'm gonna install the berk exhaust!!

Default Air Intake /new/ options ??? Help???

I have a 2010 370 Z NISMO and have the factory filters in it now. I tried K&N filters in my other vehicle and it screwed up the electronic O2 cesors and other things which ended up costin me a small fortune to fix.

What I would like to know is if there are any AWESOME air intakes that can be installed that wont hurt any censors. I realize it will void the factory warantee however I never will sell my car so I am not worried about isseus with the warantee.

Can anyone recomend a cold air intake system that is going to boost HP a little and or be O2 censor/electronic friendly?

Thanks for reading.....

I installed my Stillen CAI the day I got my car. No issues. But I was told it runs very Lean that way and you should get a tune. I didnt tune it until I got my whole system installed. CAI, Test Pipes and Cat Back, then Tune. Gained about 30HP.

Stillen Gen3 is probably the most common CAI out there for the Z.

I'm very confused as to what happened with the K&N filters on your other car. They are a solid budget choice for the Z (I ran them for a few thousand miles before getting the R2C intakes), and I don't recall seeing anyone have problems with them.

Also, it won't void the warranty. However, any part that fails will not be warrantied if the dealer can claim the failure was a result of the installation of any aftermarket parts.

Stillen G3's are the way to go. Just be warned that on a Nismo there's a couple small plates behind the fascia that have to be removed/trimmed.

Me too. The only thing I can think of would be over-oiled filters, but that wouldn't cause any issues that a $3.99 can of MAF sensor cleaner wouldn't fix.

Have to agree with the majority here, and ask if you may have over oiled your K&N's? I've used them on nearly every car I've owned in the last 10 years, as well as my last two motorcycles. Properly cleaned and oiled, they work awesome. With the cost of two for our cars at > $100, and the Stillen G3 costing 5x's that much, I'm sticking with the K&N's for now. Our intakes draw in cooler air from the front of the radiator area anyway, so I really don't see enough of a difference to match the cost.

Default Best cold air intake for 370z?

I've researched a lot and it seems like Injen is often the most favorable. What is the opinion of some of you? I'm a big fan of Stillen too and wondering about that as well. Please share thoughts before I make the purchase. Money is not an issue either.
