Was dissapointed. They definitely tax the living crap out of your mid-low end power. They do improve a little bit the last 1500 rpms, but it's a crappy compromise. Aside

Installed stillen gen 3 and ...
Was dissapointed.
They definitely tax the living crap out of your mid-low end power. They do improve a little bit the last 1500 rpms, but it's a crappy compromise. Aside from them looking nice under the hood, I would say $520 not well spent. If you guys come across feedback for other products that you think we can save our money by not buying the. BecauSE of the benefit/cost factor, please share! Thanks in advance |

Did you reset the ECU after the install?

you have to wait a few days for the ecu and the engine to break in the new intake i didnt notice much at first but after a few days it really began to show. so give it time

The G3 has produced some widely varying numbers. When Mike Kojima tested it on an automatic (bumper on) it lost power right up until the top end when it gained a little. When he tested it on the manual, it gained about 5 hp across the board with a gain of 9 at the top end. When the test was done with the bumper off he added another 3 or 4 in the mid-range and 6 at the top end.

I did reset by unplugging the ecu while installing the intake.
Mr. Kohima was prob right.. The car feels a little better right at the end , but not below that .. Taking away from responsiveness. I still have stok cats and exhaust, so maybe the car is choking up? |

From what RPM are you starting to accelerate? Keep in mind that you really need to wind this engine out... so if you're mashing the gas from under 4-5k it probably feels a little sluggish initially.

To be honest I'm rather surprised at your findings. I mean I can only go by what I am feeling and have seen with my car though.
From the Dyno sheet, mine is line ball from the beginning to the end where it makes 16hpatw, compared to stock. This was with "NO" resetting of the ECU what so ever either. Basically we did a power run before, installed, then another run. As for responsiveness (besides some slight aural gains), it's much better for me. I do feel for you that it hasn't given you the same benefit that I have gotten though. BTW both runs were done with the bumper on, honestly not much point otherwise.

As a car enthusiast, not as a sales associate, I would consider buying HFC for the 370Z before cold air intake kits.
It's about the same price, if not more, and the install hours are about the same too because you have to remove the front bumper. Also, HFCs been proven to add 10+hp at the wheels. Thats just me... |

If intake and exhaust mods were done but OEM cats were left on, the OEM Cats would be acting like a kink in this system. You will see definite improvement of whp gains after the HFCs. Because of 370Zs dual intake system, compare to single on 350Zs, the intake kits are now about par with HFC, sometimes even cheaper. It's your call, if you buy HFC, you'll eventually mod your intake system anyways. Either way, gaining HP is better than not gaining any. Catch 22, in a good way... |
