Maf pipes
Has anyone dynoed to see if silicone piping really makes a difference. Are these worth paying $100 for. THANKS.

I didn't find any dyno reports but I didn't dig very deep. https://www.google.com/#q=site%3Athe370z.com+HPS

If you have the money to buy a real intake, do it. If not, K&Ns and the post MAF tubes |

I figure if it's good enough for tiddies, it's good enough for me. We all know that the silicone gains for tiddies are real; seems it should work for Zs as well. |

get something better, i highly doubt you'll gain anything noticeable from silicone tubes |
I have them, I have not ran on a dyno to tell you anything. I didn't think they made a difference at all. I installed K&N filters first and then added them, never reset ECU or anything. Figured I would at least feel something with the two but I did not, the intake nose was still the same.

I bought them as my first mod used for $100 w/ K&N's. I switched to stillens right before my tune.

Seriously I saw a dyno on a 370z Facebook page with drop ins and HPS tubes that gave 3whp over his FI exhaust setup with stock intakes. IMO not worth the $200 someone will spend on drop ins and silicone tubes. |
Sure they will. With the hood open. Once you shut the hood you'll be down on power compared to a stock intake since you're sucking hot air. Whether you bought them, someone gave them to you or they fell from the sky, you should take them off and sell them to someone who doesn't understand how cars work.

I have them and I can't complain, they're not going to give you the power as per say a Stillen Gen3 CAI would give but better than a Short Ram?? HELL YEA!....my first intake set up was the K&N short ram, Worst mistake I could make my car over heated and shut off due those things....so I decided to go with my current setup since I HAVENT FOUND ANYONE selling Gen3 CAI on the parts for sale section and well I can't complain its actually very benificial, I will be dynoing soon and definitely want to share this to the the Z community but after I save a few bucks to install my nitrous kit and a tune at jtran. My Opinion and Experience with post mafs and drop ins first hand have been the best choice I've made atm if of course money seems to be an issue in getting the Stillen CAI.

yes im an advocate for CAIs, yes if i was buying one i would bought a CAI, but compared to MAF tubes id buy ebay short rams for the extra $10(and some of them are actually the same price as MAF tubes) heck for a little more you can convert those short rams into cold air intakes using some silicone couplers and pipes that can be bought for under $50 and still be under the cost for maf tubes and drop ins seriously maf tubes and drop ins are a joke, id recommend drop ins for someone who wants to save money on filters but thats about it if i had the time and patience to dig through 3 weeks of facebook posts and comments, id post that guys dyno just to show how useless they are when it comes to making power |
So you fixed the problem that had you seeing 160 degree IATs?

i did take the intakes off for a period of time but than randomly i decided to buy 2 cone style filters(specter air filters at orileys) and put the intakes back on, it made a world of difference the most i have seen is 130 IATs and that was literally in dead stop for 30 mins cause CHP had shut down the highway temporarily cause of an accident(thankfully it wasnt long) ill wait until summer to see what IATs are then but right now my IATs are the same as the stock box from what i logged and im extremely happy with the intakes, although i do plan on extending them using similar parts Synolimit(only difference is it being in bigger size) used so i can have a true cold air intake until i supercharge |
