catback vs intake+M370

I just want an opinion from everyone whether i should get the invidia gemini catback first or get the Stillen G3 intakes + Motordyne M370 first for the same price as the Invidia.

Heres a quick recap for hp gains from each option.

Catback = 13whp gain
G3 intake + M370 = 17whp + 10-14whp

I have fast intention test pipes that needs to be installed which will gain about 5-7whp.

After watching some youtube videos of just test pipes installed with stock cats, it sounds pretty loud already when you step on it.

get a catback. HP from mods doesnt add up that way, every mod you install doesnt add HP like +17 HP(catback) +10 HP(intake) +5 HP(manifold) +7 (pullley). More mods you add less power you will gain from each sequential mod, unless you go FI of course.

hp doesnt stack on N/A applications, i say get the intake and exhaust, our cars dont really benefit from an intake manifold
plus stay away from invidia, 2.25in piping is unacceptable on any aftermarket CBE, look into the topspeed true dual exhausts, cheaper than invidia and it has 2.5in piping

Thanks for letting me know the invidia is actually 2.25" piping. Now i gotta look for another cat back system =P
Living in Australia, cat backs are not cheap coming from the US. XD

Isn't akaprovic from Australia? Might wanna look at their exhaust since you're local. It's pretty nice and expensive for anyone in the US since the shipping is a PITA

no problem
X force also makes a 2.5in true dual exhaust and they are based out in sydney iirc

only thing is that there is close to no info on that exhaust, it sounds nice, but thats about it, i know OBX-R copied their exhaust but again there is no info on that exhaust

a exhaust i recommend is the megan racing 3in Drift Spec true dual CBE, its under 1k US and its the cheapest 3in exhaust you can buy, another i would recommend is top speed's true dual exhaust, both their race spec and their Titanium/titanium look exhausts have 2.5in piping and they cost under $700 US

A 3" dual is way too big for NA applications. Stick with 2.5 unless your project involves turbos.

just thought id throw it out there since most CBEs that are 3in dual cost upwards of 2k

i dont mean to hijack the thread but what about supercharging? would a 3in be too much or should i stick with a 2.5in?

Chuck33079 02-06-2014 06:40 PM

Fast Intentions recommended their 3" for turbos only. My guess would be that the sc would have a hard time making boost with that free flowing an exhaust.

Isn't it 60 mm?

60mm OD not 60mm ID(someone correct me if im wrong though), their website just says 60mm piping, it doesnt specify whether its internal diameter or external diameter, and on many other websites and a few ebay listings have the exhaust listed as 60mm OD

for $800 i wouldnt even risk the chance of it being 2.25in piping and just get something that is for sure 2.5in piping

I say FCBE, then add the Gen 3 & M370. The Gen 3 & M370 is good & there no joke, but you will pay though $$$$.
