third rail, anyone? Well.. I will need one at least! Not sure if I will put the injector bosses in every manifold or not. I could probably use them for a PCV distribution rail, like the GT-R has there on the stock manifold, for the masses who do not need 12 injectors.

Nothing finalized... just showing where one version of the CAD currently sits... and a little evidence that I AM actually working on it LOL.

With some curve in the runners, I have managed to get around the oil filler cap. I have a little preference for straight runners but I assume most customers would rather not have to cut off and block up the oil filler neck.

So far we fit under the strut bar even with the 3rd rail. Plenum and runner inlet shape and size will probably suffer a little to cram under it.

I have to finalize runner taper now and double check cross section area of the stock lower where it passes through the flange point. I would say finalize length... but at this point I think we will cast them really long and then we can cut them to any length we need to later. That way if we do a long runner setup we don't have to weld extensions to the runners.

Then I have to study the runners in the stock lower since they are not all equal in that part. I may end up evening it out a little in the upper... although Nissan themselves didnt feel the variance down there was worth much consideration in their own upper. So I will think about that as I pick away at this.

Our 3D printer will be here on Tuesday and then I will start fitting up prototypes.

Decided to buy one before casting the part. It would be so terrible to cast it first and find a problem then. Its getting too complex to really want to make a billet prototype.. especially with how busy the CNC here is lately.

So I will use the plastic prints to verify final fitment and then off it goes for casting.

You bought expensive 3D printer just to clarify fitment? without taking deposit from customers too?

The370z.com you guys need vendor more like phunk and less GTM

I can relate to the temptation of deposits and crowd funding, etc... however that just is not my business model. even if it takes me a lot longer to grow because of it.

I do not believe in passing off the risks of business to my future customers the way that many smoke-and-mirror companies do these days.

I will accept deposits on things only when final production is underway and only as a way to gauge demand and set production numbers. If there were ever an exception to that, it would be under full disclose as true product status. I cant stand all the "carrots on a string" I see lately.

Sorry to rant about that, but its actually been a hot topic between my friends and I lately.

phunk, you getting a plastic printer or metal printer?

phunk 11-29-2014 06:30 PM

just plastic. the metal parts will come from final production (billet, cast, and fabricated)

Phunk, once you get your test piece printed could we possibly see what it might look like on the car as you test fit? I'm sure your going to do it anyways but the anticipation is killing me:stirthepot::excited:

For sure I will post it. My 3D printer came in defective and I am waiting for a new motherboard to arrive... probably take a week or so and then I can start figuring it out.

Phunk, I forgot about all this -- glad to see it is still underway

Do you have any estimates on flow improvements over OEM?

phunk 12-07-2014 07:31 PM

Airflow numbers wouldn't have much meaning to us... the cumulative results we seek will only show relevance on a dyno graph!

........and I'm waiting for my 6" piece of fuel line and 3 studs. :D

phunk 12-07-2014 07:45 PM

Havent put in any hardware orders yet. What are the studs for anyway?

The studs are for the top of the roadrace pump top. I kind of bent mine when I was working on my problem with the fuel hose popping off. Remember? By the way. What is the diameter of the hose?
