FI exhaust, burnt bottom bumper with Nismo?

1 Attachment(s)
I was getting an alignment and noticed the bottom part of my rear bumper above the exhaust are brown, almost burnt. I think the the exhaust tucks under on the nismo more than the regular 370's if I'm not mistaken.

Anyone else have this issue?

I occasionally run into this issue, it will take some elbow grease, but it comes out.

You have cats? Looks like oil

w4kj4k 01-03-2014 09:02 AM

Joe, actually... Now that you mention it.. I do have the resonated test pipes.
Also I noticed my back bumper is slightly covered with black soot.
Should I be a bit worried?

I have that too. It comes off when I wax the Z.

uhhh that just washes off. Its not burnt.

synolimit 01-03-2014 01:16 PM

Happens on all white cars. Does not come off with washing no matter how hard you try. A rubbing compound polish takes it right off.

It's from the test pipes. It's the unburnt crap that the cats would have cleaned up. Go get a clay bar. It'll take care of it.

It's crazy because I never really hear anyone say anything about having their bumper covered in black soot from having test pipes. Im sure I'm not the only one..

mag_black 01-03-2014 11:34 PM

Actually, I've seen quite a few people point out the discoloration of their bumper from TP's.

I searched google w/

I find it a lot easier to find things on this site when I use google to search it.

Same issue with my white nismo. More noticeable than other colors b/c it's white. Claybar more often in that area to keep crud from building up.

I have that exact thing happen...only difference is I stay on top of it and make sure it doesn't build up to that level and it comes off quite easily.

Yeahhhhhh... I have a Monterrey Blue 370Z and the back is hazy, I can keep the car clean for... 30 minutes, maybe an hour if it was raining when I washed the car, then drove around in the rain.
But a car wash takes all that crap off immediately
