09 Nismo Z exhaust project

It would be a shame to go through all of that work to make less power than the stock cat back with hfcs.

I still think that 3in is ALOT of flow for an N/A engine.
Check the Amuse R1000 single exit, its 3in and there is
considarable gains with it.

With those HFC and custom Y pipe, this exhaust will be ALOT les
restrictive than stock.

We'll see

I'll consider changing to 3,5in if I go SC at 500HP for sure

Thx for the comments

Default 09 Nismo Z exhaust project

3" is a lot less flow than stock. Any gains you see will be from the HFCs.

The VQ moves a lot of air. It's a big 6 that revs high. You need a lot of flow to keep from choking it up top.

I must have read that wrong. There's no final numbers and several people in that thread are pointing out that 3" may not be ideal. Do the math. Look at the link I posted. Look at the right hand column in that chart attached to it. Double the area of the 2.5" and then subtract the area of the 3" pipe. That's the reduction in area of the single 3". In order for your project to work as planned, you should really run a 3.5".

It's your car, but get a baseline on a dyno beforehand with the hfcs already installed. That way it'll be easy to see if you've improved things or made them worse.

It's your car. If that's enough for you to disregard the math and go with a vague post in a thread that really doesn't have any hard data in it, go for it.

the problem with the OEM exhaust is mostly the Y-Pipe which restrict a LOT since the exit of the y-pipe isnt 3'' if I remember correctly ( I will have to mesure mine after work and provide with a true mesurement)

that Amuse single in 3'' will provide more flow than the OEM Y-pipe which also give more power.. but the VHR can flow a lot more than a 3'' single.

remember that 15hp you are talking about with the Amuse R1000
its basicaly the same with the Fast Intension cat-back

What's this math you speak of, is that a recent discovery?
