Headers or Test pipes or both with stock exhaust?

Im sure this has been asked but I cant come across it in the search.

Has anyone changed the headers to short tubes with downpipes/test pipes and kept the stock exhaust?

Alternatively has anyone changed to long tube headers and kept the stock exhaust?

Im keen to improve responses a touch and give the car a bit more sound but where I live its hard to get away with changing exhausts and also I live in an area plagued by speed humps so dont want to risk lowering the pipes under the car. Having bigger exhausts or anything too loud will make me stand out to the police and cant be bothered with the chew.

Yes, the best of the best is the following Z1 headers(momentum copy)& Testpipes. especially when combined with their Moddified Intake manifold. i.e.
VQ37VHR 400HP Package

this is their headers teaser video. the guy in the video has stock cutback

Mucho thanks! Will have a read through and watch the vid.

There is also a couple of threads here about the Z1 headers. they should also help in making your decision.

Thanks having a read up on the short headers with test pipes or something like fast intentions long tubes.

Need to start viewing some youtube vids and reading into it more.

Don't want to alter the stock tune on the engine yet as its still very new incase any warranty issues.

Your best bet is to NOT get headers, but test pipes and a CBE instead.

I have authentic Momentum headers, test pipes, CBE, pulley and G3 intake without a tune because I too like my warranty, so issues with the car.

it's not the money

I'm just not into much modding or the hassle of changing headers.

Don't want to spoil it for any manufacturer or hobbyist, it's just me.

I'm going to try doing the same with this car as my last.

Stock intakes, cats & resonators delete, + test pipes & Osirus tune.

The tune not only will adjust to/compliment the new exhaust but will raise my H.P.- improve my H.P. curve-raise it & the red line to a higher/better RPM. Also it actually helps it pass inspection & keep it in warranty form.

My tuner not only does his thing, but doesn't get upset if I ask for some custom/my own idea adjustments.

I already changed the gears & will work on traction in early spring.

I'll see what happens/times I do. My goal is to drive to the track, have a cup of coffee, put my car into drive & do 12.7's.

you won't pass inspection with test pipes unless you know someone… always helps to know someone… ;)

Hey, they can impose laws, you just don't have to follow them. It's easy, lol

And 93 octane is due to too many people having nice cars. Blame those a-holes, lol

We get connected to Albany by a computer. The tuners here make sure there's no problems.

A month ago I put a 3:90 350z gear pumpkin into my new 370z. Even with the engine light on from censors reading the front wheels spinning not matching the rear wheels, the service guy told the mechanic, "just pass him" .
I could never survive in Cal......

Not really. It's only in the N.Y.C that there's a problem. I can carry anywhere in the state, even with my fingerprints at the FBI & with a serious mental condition.

As long as you're white, there's no problem :icon14:
