We get connected to Albany by a computer. The tuners here make sure there's no problems.

A month ago I put a 3:90 350z gear pumpkin into my new 370z. Even with the engine light on from censors reading the front wheels spinning not matching the rear wheels, the service guy told the mechanic, "just pass him" .
I could never survive in Cal......

Awesome! i was unsure of how they did it in New york. thats one state i have not had the privilege of being able to live in yet.

you won't pass inspection with test pipes unless you know someone… always helps to know someone… ;)

We don't have emissions tests in the Dubai (well we do but they never use them) its just noise and altering from standard are the issues.

Some crazy modified cars exist out here but you do need to know someone within the registration/licensing department or pay sill money in order to get away with it. Alternatively you can just be lucky and they wont notice, but im not from here so they will notice lol

Will do more research into the shorty headers with test pipes or the long tubes. From past experience tuning LS2's im assuming the same rules apply with this engine, the long tubes will add more to the top end but lose a touch at the the lower rpm's?

I rarely extend the car to the higher RPM's so if the long ones lose power low down I think it will make my mind up for the shorties and test pipes.

Actually its just the opposite with these motors… http://www.the370z.com/intake-exhaus...vids-dyno.html

but this is just based of one persons results… if your looking for some low end, look into getting the Motordyne intake manifold also.

Im not sure how the Z1/momentum headers compare to the long tubes, but seems it would be the same result, more high end. but I could be wrong. hope this helps

Interesting reading on that thread, suppose the shorties give the flexibility of going straight to test pipes and if the noise is too much replace with resonated/cat equipped ones, the long tubes from the vids ive watched seem to rack the volume up a notch or two.

I agree. long tubes do seem to have a sound that test pipes can't replicate however.

So he made 330 WHP and 270 WHTRQ, Motion Lab just tuned a car with less mods( Intake+TP's stock exhaust), No headers and made almost the same WHP( 321) and more WTRQ(289)???

Good results but no doubt not on the same rollers so some variances will exists. Is their a vid to this one with tp's and stock exhaust be interesting to hear what the results sound like?

I'm not against headers for very serious racers

but for the 07/08 HR's & the 370 Z's, the manufacturer made/installed excellent headers! Might as well say excellent dual intakes as well, yet those seems like the first things that are replaced

Test pipes might be the best first move then? See how I get on and if want a bit more sound go headers!

Also im not considering changing the air intakes as I need the engine bay looking as stock as possible for the yearly check we have here, are upgraded panel filters inside the air boxes a worthwhile upgrade?

Chuy 12-14-2013 07:35 PM

I run K&N drop in, I did not notice a change in anything. I later bought HPS silicone tubes and still no difference.

andre12031948 12-14-2013 07:48 PM

I mod for performance not sound-as far as sound

test pipes or after market headers when driven on the street make the cars sound like chit. Raspy, crappy, chit!!!! So I don't get it

If you're looking just to sound loud then take the muffler off.

tranceformer 12-14-2013 08:28 PM

I have the following setup:

Fast Intentions longtube headers
Motordyne XYZ-pipe, w/ cat

exhaust is stock other than those parts. yes, it's not the most ideal setup for all-out HP.

just cruising around, light throttle and low rpm my exhaust is just a hair louder than stock. just enough to let you know it's not stock.

once you put your foot into the pedal it comes alive, but not super loud that any cop within a mile will hear you coming.

I'll have to break out the gopro one of these nights...

luigi90210 12-14-2013 08:43 PM

get PPE equal length headers, they have better gains than FI LTH iirc

lol cali isnt that bad, get a mailbox outside of smog zones and register your car and change your address there than set up mail forwarding from your new address to your home address

preferably dont get a PO box, get a UPS or Fedex box since it says the address of the store followed by your mailbox number so it looks like an apartment at first glance and no 2 year check up
