it totally rawrs!

I have the non res, with regular test pipes it is BONE RATTLING at low rpms. I sound deadend the hatch and put in ART pipes, it is now within acceptable limits, I considered going to 12" res but dang, the non res tone is 100% a head turner iand s redonkuously awesome.

megalapagas 11-13-2013 10:23 AM

The rattling is just between 2.5k-3k Rpms^^ but once tje pipes get a lil warm your good to go but I love my setup and WOT is just AMAZING! But I agree with Joepro our setups are TOTAL HEAD TURNERS ;)

so non-res has a different tone than with a resonator? Couldn't tell much from all the videos I watched on youtube. is it like a realized difference other than the volume?

IMO yes...I also have headers too...

Good day fellow members,

I have a question for those with FI CBE. I just order a new set and debating whether there should be a 12'' resonator or non-resonated. I've done some research on the forum but I couldn't find any specific information on sound level for FI CBE only. So I'd like to seek advice from you.

1. How loud is non-resonated? (will it get on your nerve if you drive for a long time)? This is not my DD but it is the only car I got so it needs to take me everywhere.
2. I don't think I will get the HFC. But I may add in oil cooler, CAI (possibly stillen) and Turbo later on. If I get non-resonated, will this cause the sound level to go crazy?
3. I'm a newb to mods so I don't think I'm a good candidate myself on installations. Wondering if anyone know a good performance shop around Chicago area for me to take the exhaust in for installation?

Thanks a lot guys for your help!

I installed mine last night and did the 2 heat cycles this morning. This is just a short vid testing out some rear mounting locations for my external GOPRO mic I have been testing.

There is allot of road noise that gets picked up but I have some casual driving, some down shifts with S-mode, and the last little bit it probably running it up to 4500-5500 rpms. More to come when I get the audio worked out. BTW the mic is tucked up where the license plate lights are.

Thanks so much for the vid. Do you think you can hold a clear conversation under the in cabin noise?

Yes the exhaust won't have much affect on being able to talk at cruising speeds. Once you get on it I think both you and your passenger will be listening to a very intoxicating exhaust note. It really does make these cars sound great.

I will says over the hundreds of video I have watched while I have been waiting really doesn't do the FI system justice. The crisp deep throaty sound it much deeper and stronger in person. Not harsh or deafening sounds really really good. Later this week I will see if I can isolate the road noise and delete it from the audio.

Thanks Rangerz for the video. I will have the same set up as soon as 850 arrives. Hopefully in the next few weeks.
And yes that sounds awesome.

I originally ordered the 18s but bought the 12s off another member just to see what the difference was. It seemed pretty minimal to be honest, it gives the idle a little more growl but i think the main difference is with the AC on. The 12s can get pretty loud. People are really aggressive when i have the AC on because it seems like im reving it out but im not:rofl2:
Guess that goes for any loud exhaust hah!

I really enjoy the 12s though, it brung up the volume enough for me to where its not completely ridiculous. I can still drive it keeping the volume down but whenever i want to make some noise it isn't hard :)

I can try to get a video in cabin with windows down and up maybe.

Does AC makes a difference on the exhaust tone? That's something new I heard. but video would be nice:) I've done a lot of searching on the forum but I didn't see much information comparing the volume of each FI exhaust. Perhaps this can be an informative post for everyone later on.
I think from all the videos I watched 18'' is too quiet for me. If 12'' and 18'' make not much difference. I will just for the non-res

Chuck33079 11-13-2013 07:14 PM

I think the noise increase from the ac probably has something to do with the fact the car is running at a higher rpm.

chii370 11-13-2013 08:09 PM

damnit all to hell i forgot about recirculating........ fuckin exceptions......

ive never heard the FI 12 or 18 in person, but judging by vids are the arks louder?

Shen168 11-13-2013 11:38 PM

bought non-resonated last week. Tony said its gonna sound great with the stock cats. can't wait.........
