Default AAM short tail alternative

Well I've been digging around the forums ALOT here lately and really like the AAM short tails for an exhaust option but, hate the drone. Rather unimpressed with the stock note so, axle back seemed the way to go. Now I mention AAM again because I was reading that they were going to develop a muffled version of their short tails. That's AWESOME but, no updates from them in over a month :/
Wasn't looking for this on eBay but, it did pop up and is cheap lol

Just looking to improve the exhaust note is all.

Catback Exhaust Axleback Infiniti G37 08 09 10 11 Coupe | eBay

all of these are basically the same knock off of the tanabe axle back and it will sound the same as tanabe one

keep looking around, i have seen these go for $180 shipped before on ebay

EDIT:
the G37 shares the same axle back as the 370z, so look around for g37 axle backs since they tend to be cheaper than 370z axle backs

Haha wow that's cheap. I kinda figure they were all the same. I didn't know the 370 and 37 shared the same axle back. Thought they fit different due to the rear bumper area.
I almost feel cheap even looking at this rofl. Better than the washer mod I suppose.

370z and G37 share same exhaust pieces except for the midpipe(because the G37 is longer)

honestly, if you plan on getting a full CBE, do the washermod, its cheaper at the end of the day and you dont lose any money(you can still use washers for other things) unlike getting an axle back where you can no longer use it with an aftermarket CBE(unless you want to spend $800 on AAM's midpipe)

if you plan on never buying a CBE, than get one of these axle backs

just my though

i had the washer mod on my car for the longest time but i recently took it off because its starting to rain and i dont want water getting into the muffler(that and i bought test pipes and a CBE). imo the washer mod is one of the common sense mods than an axle back would be because any axle back can not be used with an aftermarket exhaust so you end up wasting $200 on top of the cost for the CBE. ya people give you **** for it, but imo it feels better to tell them, at least i didnt waste money on mods you ended up replacing

No no no. Please. No more washer mods. I paid $130 for my muffler delete and it sounds great. I wish I could buy a full legit exhaust, but I need to buy a house. These did the trick. For about $130-$150 you should be able to get a muffler delete no problem.

As far as drone. Idk. If u sit there at 1/4 to half throttle at 50mph in 6th gear, then yea, its annoying. So I downshift. Poof, its all better.

And that's good if you plan on never buying a CBE, but if you buy a CBE, you just threw $150 down the drain. Yes you can sell it but you never get back what you paid for and you still end up losing money.

I think its better to do washer mod and save for the exhaust if OP plans on getting the exhaust.

Alternatively op could gut his stock muffler if he wants free sound, he would just need to know how to cut open the muffler and reweld it back together.

I only paid $130 for it. I will have no problem selling it for $100 in the least when the time comes. Losing $30 shouldn't be a big deal in this matter. I could prob sell it for more to someone if I offer to install it. And seeing that it barely takes a half hour to do, I'd have no problem doing that.

I have heard those resonated/muffled axle backs before. Really there isnt much of a difference.

As far as the drone, maybe it would help.. Better then the washer mod though IMO.

I'm coming in a bit late but as reference, Tanabe uses advantex to pack their mufflers and resonators. They tend to be thinner than the run of the mill cans and resonators. The stuff does a better job muddling the sound with less material and it won't blow out.

If I were you, I'd look for a used name brand cat back here before I would run a muffler delete or washer leak. People list exhausts every day. It's just pipe, it's not going to wear out.

^^ This. I saw a used Nismo exhaust on here for $400 bucks. +18whp or so..

I personally don't think its beefy enough. But decent gains!

Top speed catbacks pop up on here sometimes for $350-400. Just wait it out for something better. Unless you are FOR SURE going to stay with just an axleback and dont care about power.

I'm curious as to how these would fit with the AAM midpipe. It seems as though they are not going forward with their own muffled axle-back option.

Thanks for the input fellas! Much appreciated. I've read ALOT about this washer mod here on the forums. I am curious as to how it sounds but, am not willing to do it on my own Z. I won't call it "rice" although it is cheap so, I'll simply refer to it as that "cheap"
I LOVED the stock note on my G35 and it still turns my head now when Z33/G35 roll by. I had the ART pipes and the Invidia Gemini on my G35 after ditching the stock set-up.
Sounded AMAZING yet there was still notable drone. I think the Z warrants a more aggressive exhaust not even in stock form. However you go about it.

Why not do a custom axle back?
Pick your tips, pick your mufflers and pay to weld.

I had the washermod on my Z and it sounded amazing. Its loud but not in your face loud. Its almost like the short tail sound but a little quieter.

Honestly its a love it or hate it thing, you really have to try it and hear it in person before you can judge.

True I'll give you that seeing as I haven't heard it in person. Wasn't so much as judging as I am simply skeptical about it...obviously lol
