They are absolutely long tube headers. They are tuned specifically for the VHR. They terminate where the stock cats terminate. Longer the primaries, more torque, and low revving. Shorter primaries for higher rpm and top end power.

My 370Z with F.I. LTH, and F.I. Carbon fiber option exhaust with 18" resonators.

Here is my review if you care to research longevity and build quality. I have yet to have an issue with this header/exhaust set up. Best N/A sound for the 370Z anywhere! http://www.the370z.com/intake-exhaus...er-review.html

While it is all subjective, ive gone thru ARk GRiP, HKS hi-power, invidia and BERK, and my current FI 18" CF.

THE FI wins hands down. The only 2 i've heard that i like as much is the top secret(10k??!?!) and the amuse.

I like these 3 because the sound is distinctly hr with that distinct growl this motor pops when angry. HH resonated exhausts(GRiP, HKS) give almost a a deep, lobby sound, while definetly clean, not my cup of tea.

Rasp and drone are almost a function of cats/resonators and not so much the exhaust. THE FI, for example has ZERO drone or rasp or hiss with oem cats with my personal experience. With resonated TPs, i have hiss, some drone(if accelerating <3k rpm in 6th gear, EVRYTHING has drone just about), but the sound is mean and clean.

Im biased, I will recommend FI through and through. Handmade exhausts that are built to order and priced similar to something mass manufactured(seriously, my ARK kit had a midpipe build in 2011 and rear built mid 2012 in a v2), it's a no brainer.

TLDR: FI is king for us here in the states. An authentic japan kit is great, but longer waits and megabucks are meh. Im not a fan of HKS, as it changes the note a bit too much(seriously is on the edge of mimicking a clean V8 note). Rasp and drone=no cats, simple.

Any exhaust with 4 resonators is going to sound pretty good with little rasp, drone, hiss. I wouldn't pride one system over another. OP should should keep the CBE and add inlines or Helmholtz, simple.

This has already been addressed, but wow. No research done at alllll.

Here's a picture of mine.

I ended up buying the motordyne e370. I'll let you guys know how she sounds once she's all together. Thank you guys for all the help and input on this.

chii370 10-16-2013 09:02 PM

ark and motordyne are both the deepest. even more than FI even with 18's. But no damn idea what they will sound like with long tube headers, cat delete style? that will make ANY setup sound higher pitch, and raspy. honestly its not worth the 8-10 hp to give up a nice sound.

SS_Firehawk 10-16-2013 09:32 PM

Mine isn't raspy and I'm pretty sure I gained more than 10hp. Granted PPE's are raspy if you just throw an on without pairing an exhaust setup to remedy it, it can sound amazing with the right setup. I'm not saying my exhaust sounds the best, but she screams louder than a fake orgasm

Helmholtz's at the header or X, Y, H pipe will delete the rasp and make it sound like it still had a cat.

Got my motordyne system on and I have to say I was not expecting the sound I got!! It sounds absolutely AMAZING!! Nice and deep when driving at normal rpms but when I get on it it opens up and skreams!! Not a hint of rasp at all. I'm very satisfied with this setup. I would definetly recommend it to anybody looking for a Lth/CBE setup. Thanks again to all you guys for your suggestions and input.

synolimit 10-17-2013 01:19 AM

That's the Helmholtz. Coulda saved money just welding some on the Y pipe but to each their own.

luigi90210 10-17-2013 01:47 AM

resonated test pipes on FI exhaust with 18in resonators should not be raspy and give you that deep sound you are looking for

synolimit 10-17-2013 02:44 AM

^^^ that's a down grade.

well LTH have lots of rasp since they are not resonated, if there are such thing as resonated LTH than OP should get those, if not, than resonated test pipes are really the only answer to completely get rid of rasp

Not true. Adding a Helmholtz in the X, Y, H pipe will completely kill the rasp. You could add inline resonators there too but it won't kill it 100% just like RTP's won't.
