If you wanted deep sound, headers do the opposite. Resonators do that.

MarlinZ 10-04-2013 06:43 PM

Well I guess I should clarify, I just don't want the rasp lol. The sound is fine I understand that it's not going to be as deep as It was now that it's opened up more.

I did, just finished. Took the oem resonators and cut the ends just right to weld onto the x pipe. The other end is blocked off. Lost 90% of the horrible rasp and about 20-30 decibels which I'm sad about. O well it's worth it for no more rasp.

I doubt you lost 20-30 dB.

For reference, 6 dB down is half as loud as it was before. 12 dB down is half of half.

Just picking nits tho, glad it worked.

We'll I can't prove you wrong because it's fixed but I'm sticking to my guns :icon23:. I have a meter but the batteries dead at the moment. I bought it because race bike rules were at 4 feet back at a 45* angle from the exhaust tip at half throttle you couldn't be over 105db. My bike was 105-106 . Based off that I'd say my car was 100 at start up, crazy loud for a car at 2k rpm!! Now its about 80. Ill test tomorrow.

PS wife was sleeping first start up and it shook the house, scared her, and she had no idea it was my car or any car based of the type of sound and the volume. She likes it much better now.

Sounds like when I was running mine with no exhaust, just a Y-pipe after the headers, for a while there when I was waiting for my exhaust to come in.

Lol yeah that'd prob do it. I think I'm going to cut off the mufflers because they 90 degree turn twice. Thinking about doing straight pipes with 2 more Helmholtz like motordyne.

MarlinZ 10-05-2013 01:55 PM

How do you guys think the motordyne system would sound with the ppe?

synolimit 10-05-2013 02:08 PM

I'm going to remove mufflers first so maybe I can find out. Not going to be the same thing since my Helmholtz are up front and there's are in the rear but who knows.

SS_Firehawk 10-05-2013 05:44 PM

It will be loud, Tony@Motordyne said it wouldn't rasp, it has one large X pipe resonator and J tubes in the rear.

Good!!

I wonder if I should leave the mid resonators I have with helmholtz at the rear or pull them. Helmholtz seem to do more than inlines.

MarlinZ 10-05-2013 06:59 PM

How can I get in contact with tony at motordyne? I sent a pm to motordyne a few days ago and got no reply back. Also what is the difference between the shockwave e370 and t370?

SS_Firehawk 10-05-2013 08:27 PM

One of them uses full tig welds, 304 stainless steel and polished. The other uses a mild steel mig welds in most areas and not polished. For contact, it's best to call. Tony is the man. He went to see me when I was in cali to help me troubleshoot my manifold.

MarlinZ 10-05-2013 09:56 PM

I've called like 5 different times lol. I guess I'll keep trying until I get a hold of someone.

ZKraken22 10-06-2013 10:06 AM

PPE aren't LTH so do you have to add HFC or TP? PPE are equal length right?
