If it is a Union Shop, you are okay. If non-union then it's a little high.

10y ago when I used to work in a shop we charged $75/hr labor if you purchased the parts through us and $110/hr if you brought in parts. Accounting for inflation, I think that would be about $90/hr and $130/hr now. I haven't done this job on a 370z, but it can't be that different from the 350z. So I'd quote the following times:

Exhaust: 1hr
Swaybars: 2hr

So we are talking a total of 3hr of work, and I would have charged you $390+tax (here in TX it would come out to $422.18). Also, did you perform disposal of the old parts yourself, or did you let the shop dispose of your old parts? Cause we charged for that as well by weight, and fluids had a hazmat charge. And if you were an *** about things (anything) we would throw on a charge for all disposable items we had to use (WD-40, Loc-Tite, Sandpaper, etc).

It was about $200 for HFC and CBE install. Not too shabby for something that took around 2hr...

Do shops usually frown upon bringing in my own parts? I don't mind paying a bit more and supporting local shops but they just don't seem to carry the stuff I need.

I guess your right. I think it took a little longer because I screwed up and didnt give him the instructions due to some printer problems so he called Tony at F.I. and Tony
gave hime a bit of needed clarifications to make it fit perfect. I did take my own stuff back though. Maybe they included a tip in the price, I was gona bust some cash out to who ever worked on it. So I guess it was not that bad. They did after all, got the tips line up perfect. There was an issue with the first CBE's that went out that was later corrected by F.I.. We are talking mm's difference. all is well that ends well.

I opened her up yesterday @ 120mph. The exahaust sounded so SWEET!

Today I got all mentioned above and a set of swaybars installed. When it was said and gone the place charged me $525. It took longer than expected do the installation because I couldn't print out the installation instructions but even so it seems a little steep. or

BTW so much thanks for the technical support provided by Tony at Fast Intentions on this.

Ouch,

$525.00 !!!!

I charge $80.00 per hour.

1 Hour for the front sway bar.
1/2 Hour for the back sway bar.
1.5 Hours for the HFC's
1 Hour for the Cat Back

Totaling: 4 Hours = $320.00

Now, it could be because they had part of your exhaust installed wrong because they did not have the instructions. Once he called me, I walked him through it and it fit flawless! Either way, I am glad you are enjoying it. Please do not hesitate to ask if you have any further questions...

Thanks, Tony
