K&N drop-ins (aka the for now intake mod)
I bought a set of K&N drop in filters. I do not know if any power gain was realized however, I can say the car is a bit more responsive and the gas mileage seems to have increased a bit. Simply but the seat of my pants feel the car seems a tad stronger but as I said, the biggest difference is the response and mileage. I figured I'd give some info in case anyone was in a similar boat where they're not going full intake yet.
I'm leaning towards the Stillen Gen 3 intake however, I'm still waiting on taking care of the clear-bra before I go with the stillen.

Not to rain on your parade, but many people have said the drop-ins do nothing for gains. Further, there have been horror stories of particulates getting pulled through the higher flow K&N filters leading to engine damage. These were mainly on cars that were turbocharged though.

The response is there which is what I was after, as I said in the post not so sure about the gains, I wouldn't suspect much if any. I have K&N on all my other cars with no issues (including my previous car which was a Supra with a single turbo)

I do agree...I don't think the drop-ins will yield any power but they do help with response a bit. I'm on the fence with which intake I'll go with G3 or Nismo so I figure while I wait they'll do their part. Second day driving in hot weather and the mileage has improved...not that I'm overly worried about the gas mileage but that combined with the response works for me.

??? News to me, and I've designed, built and sold over 1,000 K&N based intakes for turbo cars and sold them all over the world.... Internet rumors die hard.

K&N drop-in air filters
Only problem I have heard was related to over-oiling the air filters which lead to fowling the mass air sensor. Alternatively, AEM makes a "dry" cone type air filter.
