Default Who has added the NISMO Cat-back Exhaust System?

OK... We all know, there are more opinions on this site than options. Simple question: Who has had the NISMO Cat-back Exhaust System installed on their 370Z and is fully satisfied? I own a new 2013 (Touring, Sport suspension, Nav/DVD, Bose & 7SP/AT, 19” RAYs and K&N drop-ins) and I'm going to get the NISMO installed next week unless the current NISMO Cat-back Exhaust System OWNERS are not satisfied with their investments. Owners chime in!!

Thanks for your input!

Why go with the NISMO when there are so many other choices?

I have the Nismo true dual and love it. I picked mine up slightly used from a forum member. I sometimes wish it was louder.

I think you'll find more often than not even the Nismo owners will swap out their exhausts to aftermarket. Not sure about power gains but for what it is the nismo's sound isnt that great. Just throwing that out there

I spent a lot of time researching and listening to every sound clip I could find,
that has lead me to Stillen, yeah I know it has some weight etc. But that is the only one imo that takes the natural engine tone and enhances it,
all the others modify it to one degree or another. (just my opinion)
Plus it is right at or near the top on gains.

It seems like any exhaust that uses a round muffler has a trumpet like tone. Not to say that is bad, just different, in fact the GT Haus sounds down right mean, but way way too loud for me. I have not heard the Nismo, but I assume it is a pretty mild sounding exhaust.

I made my decision on gains + tone/sound and proven track record. The weight is a non issue roughly equal to 1.5 gal of gas, who cares...

It sounds good compare to all other OEM exhaust systems. I got compliments from random people on the street. But it's bit quiet especially at WOT. As for the hp gain... you shouldn't consider how much hp gain from a CBE for our car. They all minimum.

I did quite a bit of research myself and picked up a gen 1 Fast Intentions CBE. It is absolute music to my ears.

I did listen to a nismo with cat deletes and liked what I heard. But it wasn't for me.

To answer the OP's question, as someone who ACTUALLY has the S-Tune Nismo exhaust, I can tell you that it in and of itself does NOT, in any way, shape, or form deserve the ridiculous price tag it commands. I got mine only because I found one that a dealer was unloading for under $1000. It doesn't sound better than stock and is actually quieter during normal driving than stock, with less of the distinct high pitched VQ sound and more of a low end VQ roar. I did some mods to my stock intakes to get to the sound I wanted to achieve. The only plus to this exhaust is that the tips are beautiful, far more so than most aftermarket exhausts. If you want an nice increase in sound, for less than the cost of the Nismo, going aftermarket will be more advantageous. That's my 2 cents as an actual owner of the exhaust. For what it cost ME, I love it, but it certainly commands lots of hate on the forums here.

Okay, two things.

First: the S-Tune exhaust is a joke, it doesn't add any appreciable gains and I don't think it sounds very good.

Second: If the OP is talking about the OEM Nismo exhaust, it's a great option to add power without adding noise.

Let me be clear, it is NOT appreciably louder than the standard OEM exhaust. It will add double digit horsepower gains, though.

The NISMO exhaust is worth it if you want only a mild upgrade in sound, and you buy a used set (they are very often for sale) from a forum member. They usually go used for $300 or $400. Mine was beat and sold it for $130 or so.

It really doesn't add to the sound at all though.

Inside the car, you can hear a slightly different, lower-pitched kinda "drone" when you're in the throttle, but outside the car it is just as silent as the standard non-nismo cat back.

Please do not expect there to be a noticeable difference in sound if all you are changing is the cat back.

Edit: to further emphasize, I had the NISMO OEM CBE on my car with LONGTUBE HEADERS and no cats or anything and at wide open throttle in 4th gear near redline going down a straight, a person sitting 50 feet from the track as I passed could near nothing but tire noise. Seriously. There are videos of this, if proof was really requested.. just trust me, it's comical how silent the car is with this exhaust, while still making good power.

Ehhh I'd say it's worth it if you can pick it up for less than $500.

It's good for between 12 and 15 WHP easily. It can support in excess of 325WHP with accompanying mods.

Also looks really good. But if you want that aftermarket exhaust sound, look elsewhere.
