Even looking at the dyno charts, I might stick w/ my order of RHFCs and just do a non-resonated catback. The only hesitation on my decision was trying to get as much power as I possibly can NA. I almost feel like the TQ #'s would be more usuable power throughout the powerban. Hmmm....

Fast Intentions Resonated HFCS paired with a NONresonated Xpipe
or
Fast Intentions Resonated TPs paired with an 18" resonator in the Xpipe
As per FI...resonators make no difference on HP/Power gains...The resonators only have an effect on the cabin noise/sound....the bigger the resonator the quieter it is...keep in mind that the 18" Resonated CBE is still louder than stock...FI offers a more deeper tone...Going with TP's will give u rasp/hissing noise and give the exhaust a higher pitched sound compared to running HFC's.

TP's will give u more HP but seen mostly on the top...ending up with u losing torque in the low to midrange area...I personally think that HFC's are the best way to go....I mean how often are u gonna be running ur Z on the top end? And honestly would u be running it at high rpms for long durations?
cereal2k and roy'sz like this.

Yes, I 100% already know about the products themselves from Fast Intentions, I'm not asking about resonators. I ran RHFCs paired with an 18" resonators in the xpipe on my G37 for over 2 years. I'm very familiar with the products themselves.

I'm strictly asking TP's vs HFCs, benefits vs cons.

And no, test pipes will actually give you a lower, deeper tone, not higher. Yes they may create a bit of rasp, but that's the intent of having resonators in both the TP as well as the Xpipe IF going w/ that setup.

Thanks though. The TQ factor I'm definitely taking into consideration right now. I felt immediate gains on my G37 when installing the RHFCs, even after already having the catback previously over a year.

Nope not with the Z34's....maybe so with the G37, but from my personal experience with the VQ, TP's gave a higher pitched sound with rasp...closely similar to running LTH's....HFC's gave a deep tone for me....

But hey....sound is all subjective, especially in the exhaust department with these cars....what might sound high pitched to me might sound deep toned to u...hope u figure out what will sound and work best for you...I mean everyone could give you their take on whether to go HFC's/TP's but in the end its your car that you will be driving...

Hmmm, now I am curious if there was a difference between the G and Z, just with it being a shorter exhaust.

Right now, I'm leaning towards to setup I initially ordered, RHFCs paired with a NONresonated Xpipe. Will be louder then my G37 setup with no 18" resonator in the X, and the Z exhaust is quite a bit shorter making it even louder as well.
