From HFC to test pipes
Since next dyno will be adding additional parts along with going from HFC to test pipes does anyone know on average the hp/tq gain from hfc to test pipes? I assume fairly small?

I think you loose a little tq but gain in hp. That was the decision on my build.

ARK test pipes up to 10hp and 9tq, up to 9hp and 12tq on resonated hfc's.

TPs, being more wide open, I would think it would gain more HP then just 1 doing TPs over HFCs? Any other thoughts/dynos/results around this? My setup will be fully Fast Intentions, which my build date is coming up soon. |

I would say my gain is about 30hp after hfc's, catback, gen 3's and m370 manifold. I have similar exhaust as what you are getting
You get more hp with test pipes but more tq with hfc's because of the slight restriction in flow.

Dang it, you guys definitely aren't making the decision any easier....
Even looking at the dyno charts, I might stick w/ my order of RHFCs and just do a non-resonated catback. The only hesitation on my decision was trying to get as much power as I possibly can NA. I almost feel like the TQ #'s would be more usuable power throughout the powerban. Hmmm.... Fast Intentions Resonated HFCS paired with a NONresonated Xpipe or Fast Intentions Resonated TPs paired with an 18" resonator in the Xpipe |

You probably won't notice a differance either way you go...........Why is this such a hard decision? I would be looking at cost effectiveness not a gain of 2hp.......or 3foot pounds of torque. Plus if I had a choice I would take torque over horse power any day. That makes it an easy decision.

OP, when I ordered my HCF + CBE setup I started having your same doubts. Should I need to go with ART pipes or stay with HFC. I spent a month looking at videos, posts and specs and decided to stay with HFC for the following reasons:
- it's my DD and I prefer HFC over TP (mostly afraid of the smell) - I wanted to go with the same manufacturer to couple HFC+CBE (as someone mentioned already) Hope this helps making up you your mind.

TP's will give u more HP but seen mostly on the top...ending up with u losing torque in the low to midrange area...I personally think that HFC's are the best way to go....I mean how often are u gonna be running ur Z on the top end? And honestly would u be running it at high rpms for long durations?

I'm strictly asking TP's vs HFCs, benefits vs cons. And no, test pipes will actually give you a lower, deeper tone, not higher. Yes they may create a bit of rasp, but that's the intent of having resonators in both the TP as well as the Xpipe IF going w/ that setup. Thanks though. The TQ factor I'm definitely taking into consideration right now. I felt immediate gains on my G37 when installing the RHFCs, even after already having the catback previously over a year. |

To answer your question for the 3rd time in this thread. More hp with testpipe or more tq with hfc.

I guess I will add my two cents to the conversation as I am in agreement with Roy. I have a similar setup as the OP except I don't have an after market CAI. When considering all the options and not spending money where I didn't need too, I put my money into ART Pipes and M370 Manifold. I chased tq since the hp gains are not really usable unless running at the top end. If you look at others signature lines or treads they may get another 10whp but they will have almost that same number less in tq. Anyway, it really is about what makes you happy...that's why I decide to go FI and I'm sure there will be something else to want after that! LOL
