And no, test pipes will actually give you a lower, deeper tone, not higher. Yes they may create a bit of rasp, but that's the intent of having resonators in both the TP as well as the Xpipe IF going w/ that setup.
Nope not with the Z34's....maybe so with the G37, but from my personal experience with the VQ, TP's gave a higher pitched sound with rasp...closely similar to running LTH's....HFC's gave a deep tone for me....

But hey....sound is all subjective, especially in the exhaust department with these cars....what might sound high pitched to me might sound deep toned to u...hope u figure out what will sound and work best for you...I mean everyone could give you their take on whether to go HFC's/TP's but in the end its your car that you will be driving...

Hmmm, now I am curious if there was a difference between the G and Z, just with it being a shorter exhaust.

Right now, I'm leaning towards to setup I initially ordered, RHFCs paired with a NONresonated Xpipe. Will be louder then my G37 setup with no 18" resonator in the X, and the Z exhaust is quite a bit shorter making it even louder as well.

I paired up MD ART pipes with my FI exhaust today. There is no rasp and the sound is insanely beautiful. A great combination with no CEL light.

Lance, I prefer the test pipes, and I don't care about smell.. its not that bad. The only thing that bothers me is the hiss on decel through the lower rpm range. I can hear it even in the car. RHFC's would probably kill most/all of the hiss you can hear inside, though.

I couldn't believe how amazing it sounded. I could barely keep off the throttle along with the install of the Stillen G3's.

I was a bit scared going back to test pipes with my prior experience of Invidia's on my 350Z. But, I am glad I got back on the TP wagon with ART pipes. One hell I an amazing bolt on for our cars.

Only time I can really hear the hiss is first and second gear, but I like it oddly. I can't hear it in the car at all unless I have the volume knob to zero.

I've elected to go with Resonated HFCs (had in my G37 and loved them). For the catback I went with a NONresonated Xpipe and SS canisters.

I've looked into MD, but just wouldn't consider it. Ran nothing but Fast Intentions on my G37, and not looking to change now. Only options for me were Resonated TPs or Resonated HFCs. The "pros & cons" of both, the HFCs came out on top. The midrange of TQ from 3500-5500 is higher in the HFCs, with the HP of the TP not surpassing the HFC until nearly 6k in the powerban.

What people don't realize is how much flow HFCs truly have.

Good choice...about people not realizing how much flow HFC's have...you're right....but to them I say...They're not called "High Flow Cats" for nothing....

I can't imagine having to store away my Z and not drive it.... That really sucks....Glad that we don't have those issues here on Guam..Get to drive the Z 365 days a year.... I don't know how you guys all do it back there during the winter time ....But then again I could imagine that it would be hard to a Z in the winter...

I've owned a G35 5AT, a G37 6MT, and now my Nismo. The G35 was my daily driver right out of college, which I drove for 2 winters. It honestly wasn't that bad, and I didn't even have winter tires.

The main factor around storing my G37 and now my Nismo is avoiding the salt. It absolutely DESTROYS a car along w/ the goodies we install on it.
