The sounds aren't that much different between the CF and SS cans. As others have said the CF tends to be a little higher pitched than the SS, but that is all subjective on the individual and what they hear. Tony would suggest you choose on looks of which cans you want the great sound comes with it.

+1 for F.I. CF mufflers (well I haven't installed it yet as I've been fighting for 3 days with removing the stock cats... but it's ready to go up now... )

Sweet ride axmea. You guys are right the CF actually blends right in and is less noticeable than the SS. Now I just need to find someone local that has the FI setup! Will post pics and vids w/ what I decide to go with. Thanks all for the advice.

Found it:

The Carbon Fiber sleeve is technically not thinner than the Stainless Steel case. The reason it dissipates the sound differently is mainly due to the material characteristic of one to the other. It is also due to the way Carbon Fiber muffler seals to the end cap vs the Stainless Steel being welded all the way around.

Thanks, Tony

Did you have to break the bolts on the stock cats? I did....at least on one side. Glad to see I wasn't the only one who wrestled with that.

The running theme of the CF cans is STEALTH. I don't even think people really notice that it is CF until they bend down and look closely. Like others, I felt the SS was too blingbling paired up with a BS Z

but I have a couple of problems now. I need to tune it as I opened the CAI to 2.75'' and fix the steering wheel, which apparently I f***ed up putting back the steering shaft after installing the cats

12" res steel cans. I love the way it looks and sounds. Nearly a year old and almost 15,000 miles later, still looks new and sounds great.

Exclamation

I have a 2012 370Z Nismo. Installed the Stillen Gen III CAI, RJM clutch, 20/15 H&R spacers and as of yesterday installed the Fast Intensions TDX exhaust with test pipes (removed cats) and 12" resonators. I chose the polished instead of the CF. Let me tell 'ya the car sounds VERY exotic now. Tony from FI is super nice and will guide you thru the process. I had to wait a few months for the pipes to be built, but sure worth it... Don't hesitate, just buy these pipes. You will not be disappointed. Here's a pic...

Agreed. Go with what you like the looks of more. I'm sure if I heard both carbon fiber and ss revs without knowing anything about this exhaust I'd love the sound of both of them.

Just quoting this part because I had the same question. I was wondering if an Uprev tune was worth it if I only plan on having this exhaust along with an CAI.

The general consensus seems to be if you have 2 or less breathing mods then you don't NEED a tune. If you have more like CBE, HCF and a CAI then you're gonna need one. That being said you are fine w/o a tune. A tune wouldn't hurt you, you might squeeze a little more power out with a tune but you don't NEED it.
