Exhaust question on Top Speed Pro

Im looking to change the exhaust on my 09 370z, but I have no expience in purchasing, or istalling them. I would like to achieve a louder than stock tone with either the same weight or obviously less. I saw this Top Speed Pro dual axleback muffler that uses the stock mid pipe for 275 on ebay. Sounds good, as I saw videos of it installed on a g37, but I would like to know if this is in fact an upgrade and not a downgrade. I really appreciate your help on this....

It's an "upgrade" if you want real power and REAL quality, save and buy another brand.
Or buy a top quality used one on the marketplace for a great deal

Sorry I can't comment on the exhaust you cited.

Business up front: Best part of my exhaust is the idle is super quiet, while 5k-7k RPM in either 3rd or 4th is very aggressive:tup:.

I went with this M2 exhaust M2 Performance - CBS-NN09V2 - Stainless Steel Catback Exhaust System Ver.2 - 2009 Nissan 370Z Z34 3.7L V6 VQ37VHR. I got mine on eBay, but the server here at work won't allow me to access the site

For myself it met the criteria you set "I would like to achieve a louder than stock tone with either the same weight or obviously less". And at $350.00, it was in my price range. The pipes are pretty durable, as I have bottomed out several times :shakes head: on my 1.5 inch Megan Racing lowering springs here in the North with no mechanical/repair issues.

Just to point out that the Top Speed stuff is QUALITY.. not different from the other brands. Sorry DE not sure what your going on about, i guess speaking from no experience.

Ive seen / heard both these setups on and off cars.

I also ran the M2 style system myself before and it was great. Quiet when needing it to be quiet but picks up when you want it to pick up.

The Axle backs are for sound, but wont give much on the performance side.

The axleback top speed sounds good. I have heard it on a g37 and 370z.

I prefer AAM Short tails, but thats just me.

For the price though, spend another $200 and get the full exhaust. With some people dyno'ing +15whp, you cant go wrong..

That being said, there are better exhausts out there. Just know what you are buying!

If you want LOUD and save weight, get some AAM short tails. Again, really no performance increases. They say with this exhaust you lose some lower end torque because of back pressure but gain some upper end HP...I don't know how true this is but it's really a cosmetic exhaust and saves on weight.

Just buy a used good exhaust. That way you get power to go with the sound. People list exhausts for sale every day. It's just pipe. It's not really going to wear out.

It's made in Dallas, I lived in Dallas, I know someone repped by TS, heard plenty of them, sounds great... Until it rattles... Or until the muffler is blown... Or the resonator is blown and you get this odd noise... (But rattle was the number one flaw me and several others kept noticing)

Get some test pipes. Cheapest option and give an actual horsepower increase, unlike AAM short tails or just going for something that makes noise. Also, they make the stock exhaust louder too.

hmmm I wonder which one is lighter top speed or m2? :stirthepot:

Sounds like the m2 exhaust would be the best bet ..as I dont want the exhaust to be really loud. I'd like it to be little louder than stock for local driving, and then pick up a bit on the highway. Also I don't want "Ricer" looking big pipes either

that sounds exactly what im trying to achieve: look like stock, performance gain, and just a little louder. do you suggest any namebrands or sites for the test pipes??? thanks

CNT Racing resonated test pipes are one of the cheapest and have worked for me so far. It's really just a pipe..not too much too it. You can also check the classifieds here.

Aren't those the ones where the O2 bungs snap off at the welds?

Yes, yes it is the company that has such shitty welds that the O2 bungs just came off

luigi90210 07-23-2013 07:03 PM

washer mod if you just want noise, cheapest solution out there

if you want something like the top speed axle back, look up G37 axle back on ebay and you basically get the same thing but for much cheaper(175 was the cheapest i have seen an axle back go for)

EDIT
they went up abit but here is the cheapest one i could find in the 30secs i spent looking for it
http://www.ebay.com/itm/09-Infiniti-...fd9746&vxp=mtr

iirc the topspeed axle back is a tanabe axle back replica, so buying any tanabe replicas should give you the same sound as the top speed axle back
