Magnaflow CBE Clearance issue ?
Had the Magnaflow Exhaust installed by a muffle shop. They brought me back to see an issue where the passenger pipe at the bend for the tail piece is not able to clear the fuel filler inlet air box. The mechanic did the best he could to shift everything to allow it to clear before the pipes were clamped down, but as you can see from the Pic it is still in contact with the box.
Anyone else experience this condition? Thanks for looking and hope someone has some thoughts. Jim Attachment 72383 Last edited by Jimc; 08-30-2013 at 09:32 PM. |

I have the full Tanabe exhaust professionally installed and my box never touched, never needed to be removed! That's just one of the many reasons i chose Tanabe, their dedication to R&D is just one of them. There are many cat backs available for the 370z that require that box to be removed, those companies were not on my list when i was deciding which exhaust i wanted( the other two were mines' and Amuse, tanabe was perfect for me). To the OP, according to Ziggyman, the box doesn't need to be removed. Also, Magnaflow should be able to tell you OP!

It's the EVAP cover. You have to remove it with some exhausts.
There are a couple lines under there you'd want to put a little heat shielding on, but otherwise you're fine just removing it. It's a fuel line, I believe, and you can cover it with any heat shielding product from your local auto parts store. |

I'm not at home to double check mine, but I do remember the shop mentioning something about it. That was the closest pic I found

Problem Solved
So after a call to Magnaflow the problem is resolved. The issue was that the shop had all the exhaust joints drawn up tight which decreased the rear clearance significantly. I put it up on the jack stands in the driveway, loosened the right and left joint going into the muffler and moved it back just short of an inch. Still significant capture at the joint and plenty of clearance at the evap box.
I think that the Magnaflow kit was great, great price on Amazon 837.00 and sounds good surprised that they are not used more in this forum. Regards, Jim Quote:
