CNT resonated test pipes

Just wanted to pitch in my thoughts, after checking out the info everybody puts on here I decided to go with resonated test pipes, found these for $219 was worried that they weren't 500+ like the "good" ones, but man are they great almost no sound difference at cruising speed inside the car outside its sounds great, a little "meaner" and when you get on the pedal its like some exotic or something, as for performance all I can say it feels a little better but im sure that's the sound, ill post pics if anyone wants, I was actually surprised as to the quality of the welds and fit was perfect. check em out if you are thinking rtp's

do u have a stock exhaust? and pics please?

Sh0velMan 07-02-2013 12:42 PM

Couple of guys on here that have had their TP/HFC from CNT literally come apart on them.

Hope you have better results!

They've had their O2 bungs break off numerous times

In both cases it was the secondary O2 bung extension fracturing and falling away from the car. More than once.

Dzel 07-02-2013 01:56 PM

I believe that was on HFC. I have the same resonated TP's as well. I have had them on over a year, and added my CBE a few moths back with no issues. My exhaust is a lot louder than other guys with the same set up. If you ever go FI the higher temps will burn off the resonation making them pretty much straight pipes. HFC on the other hand will fail over time.

Yeah, there's definitely a reason for that.

zefaulter 07-02-2013 05:13 PM

Some people like to pay more because of the name/brand. I do as well, just not for HFCs or TPs. I have CNT HFCs that I bought used. Been great so far

snowsurfdirtx 07-02-2013 07:02 PM

so far, sure. but later down the road when they fail and someone with higher quality stuff is still going, its worth it. Brands get a reputation for a reason. If the product was ****, it wouldn't be worth any more than the cheap stuff. its peace of mind as well. thats why companies like FI have waiting periods for their stuff

Dzel 07-02-2013 08:59 PM

FI and GTM are the top players in my opinion you can not go wrong with any of their products.

I was hoping to hear some "good stuff" about them, I knew going in that I might in time regret the cheaper ones but hey who of us doesn't like wrenching their toys ( I have a feeling the grammar cop isn't going to like this sentence structure, lmao.

dropped the pics in my alblum..

jcosta79 07-02-2013 09:15 PM

Jotech recommended Megan Racing resonated test pipes for my install. They only cost me $159. I was worried they were too "cheap", but Jotech said: "It's just a piece of pipe."

No problems so far with over 8K miles on them.

Gotcha.

zefaulter 07-02-2013 11:08 PM

If you were going for test pipes, cheapest option would've been the best option(as long as they fit) looks like you got the HFC not rTP but I could be wrong

LNATKFRNG 07-03-2013 08:18 AM

Resonators

synolimit 07-07-2013 12:59 PM

Not a big deal though, just weld some more around the bung. Or since you added the long 90*, take a rod of metal, cut it and weld it like a support bracket. If anyone's concerned just go to a muffler shop and reenforce it in 5 min tops.

zefaulter 07-07-2013 02:48 PM

Good suggestion! I'm personally not concerned, there is only one incident that I know of anyway

Dzel 07-07-2013 03:03 PM

Like I said I haven't had any issues what so ever and an completely happy with the sound pre and post CBE
