if I would have to choose only with your option of the Y-Pipe I would keep the Litespeed racing y-pipe but if you need a cats (HFC) then the XYZ y-pipe would be better since its a modular setup.

I would have go with the Tanabee but its only 2.75'' exit ? which is quite below than what the VHR can flow, it needs a minimun of 3'' single!!!!

If you like pissing money and the look of burnt titanium, you can get amuse y-pipe. This photo is from a member of the forum too.

Another option is to go with any 350z Y-pipe. Simota said that it fits the Z. I'm looking at getting the Tomei one probably later this year (possibly getting a very rare/expensive puppy). This might be a slight thread jack. But does the an aftermarket Y-pipe do anything with the tone of the exhaust? I have heard that it does and other people report that it does nothing to it.

Yes the y-pipe changes the tone of the exhaust! On my Tanabe medalion exhaust when it was first installed i had the stock y-pipe and mid pipe and muffler were tanabe (y-pipe back set, Tanabe at the time was in transition of sending more to the U.S.), after having the Tanabe y-pipe installed i noticed better acceleration ( stock is pretty restrictive), more of a crisp and clean exhaust note, even better throttle response, and it's so beautiful to have as a complete catback exhaust. I couldn't have picked a better exhaust for myself!

How are the Y pipes holding up after a few years? I know Tanabe has a good reputation (made in Japan) and Motordyne is also very good quality from what I understand, but has anybody been running theirs for some time? I am especially interested in how the flex sections are holding up. Thanks!

I've had my motordyne xyz pipe for just over 2 years now, ~38k miles or so and it looked good on the last oil change. Then again there's no snow or salt on the roads where I live. Also I'm on stock suspension so scraping on the road is minimal.

Had my beluga Y-pipe for about a year and she's holding up good...3 track days, 4k road trip and about 18k miles. Also I'm in colorado and it's holding good with the snow and mag chloride on the roads...would advice cleaning your exhaust after any weather. Best bang for your buck..in my opinion.
