Why the hell wouldn't they make the flange the same as the 370Z?

B/c the Momentum headers were made with 350 flange.:p

Ok but does this mean you cannot use anything but their TP or HFC?

BC I have a set of FI res test pipes I want to use.....

I believe that if you use these headers you must use 350,HFC,stock cats, test pipes.

No, you don't have to use THEIR TP's or HFC's but you do have to use test pipes or hfc's from a 350z DE motor. So in short, your FI test pipes are useless. I'm assuming Z1 didn't put their own "twist" on it as they stated before and just 100% reproduced the original? They even say in the description that it has the Momentum stamp on the header, not Z1 like it has shown in their picture lol.

Why would you limit the sales to a 07+ Z when the original works on all 03+ Z's? Plus like I stated, more money by giving us the "option" to purchasing their pipes with the purchase of the headers.

BUT just so some of you know, I did have a fitment issue with my exhaust lining up originally when I was using Top Speed test pipes for the 350z. When I swapped to the Z1 pipes, my exhaust lined up perfect so it is a perk that they offer the pipes at a discounted price WITH the purchase of the headers because it actually did fix my fitment issue. This happened with the original Momentum headers so it's not like Z1 has a specially made set for the headers.

370Z JT 05-28-2013 12:48 AM

Dang, I was hoping to keep my ART pipes.

Z1, how about a group buy for forum members?

I feel the same way you do:shakes head:

Am I the only one who thinks Z1 kinda dropped the ball here? I mean if you going to go through the trouble to remake them why and the hell don't you make them with the 370's exhaust flange........:ugh2:

And yes sir what about a group buy??

SoFloZ 05-28-2013 12:56 AM

is the gain similar to momentum headers?

Its an exact copy of them.... they remade the 350Z headers so yes it is.

RyanWest 05-28-2013 01:12 AM

What the **** @ flange

Boost_lee 05-28-2013 01:38 AM

Sucks about the flange.... how about group buy priced headers + free test pipes for us? :p

DarkJak 05-28-2013 01:44 AM

Is it only the flange that is different or also the shape of the piping at the end? If it's just the flange, it shouldn't be that hard to weld on a 370Z one instead right?

Or just modify it to not have the DE flange

It would of been a Hugh cost factor for Z1 to change the flange design. More than the cost of there TP's. these headers are already expensive to manifacture. Also I can see why, cause Z1 can sell these to the 350 crowd to. I would of made the same decision.

Agree...package deal is what everyone will want......shame about the flange though.

Mandingo 05-28-2013 12:18 PM

A real shame

Mike 05-28-2013 12:27 PM

I don't see what the big deal is. For them to make two different sets of headers, I'm sure the price would be more than the cost of an additional sets of test pipes. As it is, they bought the Momentum design and only had to reproduce it (same factory making them too, last I heard). To do a redesign would also add cost.

:iagree:
It does suck a bit, but better to have the option and ability to get them again. Plus for those who already have HFC/TP/RTP I can bet you can sell them easily on this forum.

xxAGAVExx 05-28-2013 01:42 PM

Decisions decisions. I was just going to order some fi HFCs within the next few weeks. I guess I'll wait a little bit and think about getting the headers and de HFCs at the same time

N0SL3N 05-28-2013 03:22 PM

Would love a GB on this!

phunk 05-28-2013 03:28 PM

You guys upset about the flange have the wrong perspective. They have precisely the correct flange. They are 350z DE headers. You guys just have the wrong car.

chrischhorn 05-28-2013 03:28 PM

There is a package deal option at the bottom of the header page.....$10 cheaper then it would be if bought seperate and the test pipes are marked down right now from $220 so its still technically a good deal.

It's not like Z1 isn't offering a great deal with this package. Sell your current TP/HFC after you buy them and make some of your money back. When I am ready to make the move my Berk's will be gone.

Wonka2581 05-28-2013 03:36 PM

Yes it's an ok deal. BUT! Some people like myself wanted to use FI res TEST pipes, not some other test pipes!

I believe as long as you have the 350z HFC or TP you should be good to go. So you still can get 350z HFC or TP from F.I. or any other brand you like.

On another note, is there any dyno sheet for the z1 headers. I know it's same as the momentum headers but am still curiouse to see the dyno result on the z1 headers.

martin82 05-28-2013 06:57 PM

is there a difference if we use a HFC off a HR engine or DE?

phunk 05-28-2013 07:01 PM

Pretty sure HR/VHR is the same, and DE is different?

Chuy 05-28-2013 07:48 PM

Boo, I was waiting for these to drop but now... I'm out.

Z1 Motorsports VQ Performance Headers

Its very funny that Z1 are trying to sell their Momentum Copys with the true Momentum pictures.
They even show both model (the true momentum and copys)
They are far from to be identical

On the Z1 header they show both side header . The first part that jumped in my eyes are the inegal lenght of both collector. Then a cheated bent on the one of the runner that isnt as smooth as the true Momentum .

They also show the inside picture of a collector on their website that lead to pretent its the Z1 copy which in fact are the true Momentum.

I did said after they mentionned they would make copys of them and I stated that I doubt they would match the momentum quality .. it seem like I was right afterall

Im quite dissapointed by both collector not being the same lengh by about almost an inch which is enormous in a collector design. So the price given is justified in my opinion.

I cant wait to see some real pictures taken by our 370z members to show the real product.

Edit; btw im not bashing Z1 .. im just sharing my opinion with everybody.
So anyway since the true momentum are gone . Those header should be the top choice unless someone sell their momentum hehhe

SPOHN 05-28-2013 08:39 PM

You guys are funny. If the original Momentums where still available with the same flange you would be buying them up.

I agree, but Z1 not putting the new flange is just a way for them to make more money...
Yes I know that it's "more universal", but those 2 DE engine owners could buy HR TPs or HFCs and make it work too...

So in this instance, I feel shafted by Z1, also... No one has done a side by side on the same car to prove that these are any better than LTHs

Highly unlikely this will ever happen short of Z1 doing it themselves considering the cost of two sets of headers, 1 set of TP's, 16 hours of labor, and 2 trips to the dyno.

UFreefer 05-28-2013 09:27 PM

I think it's lame they didn't make a 370 version and 350 version. Hopefully they'll make good power but I'd recommend anyone who is on the fence call speed force racing and talk to him about his headers...I sure love mine.

Looking at this thread with pictures of the real momentum headers it looks like the merge collectors are different lengths as well. The welds also look a bit different.

Im am sure you know more about this than me so maybe you can chime in.

Regardless, I am looking for some gains with these Z1s before I pull the trigger.

There is ZERO reason to have made this for the DE motor besides fùcking the customer.
These headers do NOTHING on the DE motor, they were designed to minimize spool up time on the Momentum turbo kit, and without the turbo kit, no advantage...

Z1, change the flange

So......All these accusations of people saying this and that.....I know the collectors don't match, I know it looks like Z1 cheaped out on the bend and blah blah blah. So I researched some stuff. Momentum's headers aren't equal length collectors either. The bend on the driver side is just like Momentums....How do i know? I took pics of MY MOMENTUM headers before I installed them.

http://i184.photobucket.com/albums/x...ps6f6bda63.jpg

http://i184.photobucket.com/albums/x...psc93f71f5.jpg

You can clearly see they are the same design and built identical. I guess next accusation is mine are fake?
