Stillen HFC over Berk..HMMMMM

So, I have the GTHAUS Full CBE (Meisterschaft) and was looking to add another bolt on. I'm getting the Stillen Gen 3 and was about to pull the trigger on the Berk HFC...Then, I started thinking about why not the Stillen HFC's...I did some research and found that the Stillen and the Berk are almost the same. I checked some Dyno chart from previous 370/G owners and I could not see much of a difference..IF ANY. Even the price is the same.

So, I went ahead and ordered the Stillen HFC's with the rational that they would work better with the Stillen Gen 3 CAI.

I'll let everyone knows how it goes once installed. I hope the Stillen HFC works well with my GTHAUS.....

Please do I wanna get HFC's but I do not wanna see my CEL.

Having matching brands for intake and HFC won't magically give you +10 hp. I don't see why it wouldn't work just as well though. Gonna be a loud exhaust note, that's for sure.

red2010Z,

I've had my Berk HFC and CBE installed for over a year now and have had NO CELs. I do not think that the exhaust is too loud. As a matter of fact, the exhaust note was too mellow without the HFCs. Once I installed the HFCs, the sound (to me) was just about perfect.

I think that either HFC you install, the sound will be about the same.

My plan is to install the HFC & CAI then get a UPREV...with this I will be at least over 300whp and that was my goal +the sound with my exhaust and hfc's....I want it to ROAR!!!!!!!! lol...it does already but this should take it to the next level!!!!!!!!!!

I think he was stating that in referance to the GTHAUS EXHAUST paired with the Stillen HFC :tiphat:

But see I made the silly mistake when I first got my car of getting Agency CBE because I didn't do my homework on the Forums. So I wanna get something that will go with the Agency CBE like the Z1. But I am just worried about the CEL.

Yeah that concerns me as well. Worse case scenario if it bothers me that much I just live w/o the HFC. They sell on here for almost the same as you pay for them new...lol..Most people dont care about the light coming on..but me personally it would piss me off...lol..my tire light is always on because i got new wheels w/o the tpms sensors...pisses me off every morning.

red2010z 05-22-2013 09:22 AM

See I am also the same way I got new wheels and tires and I refuse to mount em before I get my TPMS in. Which sucks cause I am ready to see the outcome of me forking over 3000+ for wheels and tires. But the light would annoy the living hell out of me. Some forum members have fantastic deals and some think people will pay retail for a used part.

Fast Intentions HFC is very good too. It has a "L" shaped non-fouler so you won't have CEL problem even without a tune. And op, you said you are going to have uprev tuned afterwards and that will turn off the CEL for you no matter what. Although it could lead you to fail the emission test because it basically turns off the sensors to fool the system(depends on state).

Which HFCs will not give you a CEL? Does the ark resonated hfc give you a CEL?

chrischhorn 05-22-2013 02:00 PM

Stillen HFC's WILL give you a CEL unless they revised it and added the extenders. If not, you can just buy the L extenders off ebay for $15 for the pair. Thats what I ended up doing. The BEST thing about the Stillen HFC's is that it uses the same Header to Cat gasket as OEM. Its the OEM crush ring instead of the 3 bolt flange gaskets like every other aftermarket. It actually has a lip on the cat to header to seal it properly. Fitment was perfect though. CEL was the only problem which was easily resolved with the extenders.

Yes either get the Stillen or Berk and do the non fouler(L extenders) mod to fool the o2 sensors or just get the Fast Intentions HFC that already has "L" shaped extender that will NOT trigger the CEL.

I don't know if this is a stupid question or not but is there a hfc that won't give my car a hiss when I rev it? I know the sound of the exhaust will change I just don't want it to hiss.

red2010z 05-22-2013 05:42 PM

Will it require a tune after installing HFC?
