Yes I can afford and dump over 1000 dollars on some pipes to make noise and hopefully gain or most likely lose torque without any other mods such as an intake. But why would I do that when I can care less about the minimal loss or gain on my DD? It's not like im racing against other cars to work and store everyday day. Last time I checked the speed limit is 45.
For my needs from the Z is more sound so the car sounds alive. And the washer is more than enough to fulfill it. I'm pretty sure others that did the same mod feels the same way. Maybe they are just too scared to stand up for getting bashed and flamed. It not like I went in and drilled holes or put Walmart fart cans on the car like civics, and made you all "rich enthusiast" that mod cars properly look bad. Hell, bet most of you that actually bought pipes can't even tell the difference between my spacers and your 1000 dollars pipes on the street! And I noticed everyone that talks down about this actually spent money on pipes. That just further confirms some of you are hurt that this simple cheap mod can achieve what your over prices pipes did in the sound department. |

Instead of telling everyone they're butt hurt you could Just take it with a grain of salt. You do realize you posted this publicly on a forum where you know people will comment both good and bad. I think we get it, you just wanted some extra noise and you paid $15 to make your exhaus leak for that noise. Some people want form, function, power and sound. Most of the comments were just suggestions or inquiries as to why you you went this route instead of some test pipes, not $1000 pipes. Some even asked for dyno to see if there was actual power loss I'm what you did. Yes, you will always have some sarcasm but rolling with it is better than being defensive. But again, to each their own, at the end of the day is your car and you do with it what you see fit.

I did mine because the exhaust is way too quiet in the cabin since I put some GTMat in the hatch area. I lost a lot of feedback. I have my muffler guy looking for a more permanent solution but I'm not guaranteeing you'll like it any better than the washers. Oh, wait! I don't care if you like it or not. And I take no offense for exactly the same reason.

Its your car man. Nobody here drives it but you. Ignore all the negativity. Nice cheap easy mod from the looks of it.

ssmoked, your 370Z sounds nothing like one with a high-end CBE. It's obvious to me that you are insecure about this "modification". Stop comparing this to reputable exhaust systems. You put WASHERS in your stock exhaust and created a leak... It is more of an abomination than a mod. Get a real exhaust system and you will see why you are being made fun of. Get some ******* hearing aids, too.

I didn't know where to begin. The washer mod won't fly in my state. It's an exhaust leak. Exhaust leaks won't pass state inspection. So......, but it's your car. Do with it as you please. Tell you this though. The older you get. The more thinking you will put into each mod before you do it.

here you go... yes you guys are far more superior than me and whoever else did this washer leak on this planet, and way richer because you can afford real pipes. happy now? did your d!ck grow a few inches? get a hobby keyboard warrior btw mantella87, only 'insecure' ppl need to constantly put others down to compensate for whatever they are lacking... i am so done with this thread. just want to help out other members looking for cheap sound and getting flamed left and right. please lock it Last edited by ssmoked; 05-16-2013 at 11:47 PM. |

Everyone just simmer down now. No backtalk! Simma downa!
This is a great, inexpensive mod that is equivalent to a partial muffler delete. It doesn't necessarily hurt anything (except possibly a little hp/tq). Anyone giving him $hit for not buying an aftermarket exhaust, (I'm not talking to the people calling him out for comparing it to one) That being said, OP, to compare the sound to an aftermarket exhaust is downright wrong. As far as dBs go, sure, your washer mod exhaust is likely as loud as some of them. It may even be a little deeper (throatier) than stock, but they are very different notes. There's a reason your mod cost <$20 and aftermarket exhausts cost anywhere between $800-$2500. This is the reason you are getting flamed; if you plan to make stupid comparisons like this on the interwebs in the future, I would get some thicker skin

I don't see much of a difference in sound between this and a muffler delete. I'd say it was a $20 alternative to a muffler delete, not a full cat back. OP, if you're happy with it, more power to you. But you're the one who put this out on the internet inviting criticism and opinions. Don't lose your **** because some people don't like it. As long as you like it, that's all that matters.
As a FI exhaust owner, there is no comparison in sound at all. Maybe if you're just listening to youtube videos. Not in person. Nowhere close.
