Default Interest thread: AAM Competition 2.5" Axle Back Exhaust (Muffled)

Hey guys,

There's been a lot of talk of designing an axle back exhaust to go along with our S-LINE midpipe, considering your only real options out there are to run the midpipe with 1)stock muffler (may be too quiet, not enough flow) 2) short tails (more than enough flow, but too loud) 3) other axle back exhausts

This is a drawing our engineer came up with to show you what it would end up looking like. The main focus is to incorporate mufflers within the confined space while maximizing flow, this will then mate up to the stock intermediate pipe, or our upgraded S-LINE midpipe.

Sound wise on a stock exhaust, this should be a hair louder. Mated to our S-LINE midpipe, will sound very comparable to many other true dual cat backs out there. The idea is to give you, the community, options! Modular, being able to fit one vs the other!

ETA: 2+ months out if project gets approved
Price: TBD

Any interest out there??

No on the design and sound. In all seriousness, make your engineer useful and make something that isnt on the market, like say a single 3" back with an angle at the end. Take a que from how RS*r did on their concept exhaust systems. Little bends as possible, 12" resonater since the 370z will need it, slip fit tail section, with an angled N1 style, but not so blocky like most are, but were all the welds are on the can, rounding them off. Can post a pic of what I mean but you can do the same on google images. I have had this on my other ride for over 7 years and absolutely love it.

I know there are quite a few people that want a single sided system on here, but no one is yet to bring one on the market.

I think you may be missing the point as to why they are thinking about this. Their only axle back option is the short tails. Making an axleback that can fit on their new mid pipe design can serve a double purpose for them. Creating a single 3" CBE in comparison is all new.

This has also been talked about but the priority level isn't as high. It's definitely something we will develop in the near future, as I'm sure the sound it produces is promising and some will sacrifice the looks over performance/weight/sound! I agree with you 100%

Well said and right to the point. This axle-back will serve as a modular piece that will span across many platforms including the g37 coupe, and the fx35, with different tip lengths obviously. Building off of what we currently have, the S-LINE midpipe, and short tails, I think having a muffled options should make sense but just wanted to see what the community thinks!

I would buy on a serious note if it came with burnt tips like the short tails and also had burnt mufflers like amuse. just waiting for someone to make it.

Will work with all 4 of our current short tail tip variation that is the plan, no plans on burnt mufflers however

They already have a true dual CBE. Now they are creating another CBE with a H pipe design that can be bought in pieces, with multiple tail section choices, so as to not spend so much initially and can add as the money comes available. I fully understand, a new CBE. Hence why I said if you are going to design a "NEW CBE" make soemthing that isnt available yet. I am aware the shorty's and the mid section is already on the market, but when all coupled together it is another CBE.

The current true dual will be history. The S-LINE midpipe paired with short tails and/or this new axle back will span across many other platforms with slight adjustments. Instead of having just the true dual right now that only fits the 370z. That's the intent behind the "design" which all started with the S-LINE midpipe

I know where you are coming from, but it would be nice to see a single sided 3" at a decent price. Make a ton of mid sections that are "universal" and just use the tail section as the change from platform to platform. Not saying it doesnt make sense. Might even expedite the deliver time to the front door.

After looking, you even make a titanium one like the 370z amuse for the 350z , WTF gives?
