I believe the member edub370z got up to 321whp/268tq by adding

the ebay CNT Catback for $500-600
&
Test Pipes= $150-250

Intakes (He has injen but K&n plus MaF will do the same)- $100-180

edub370 04-17-2013 07:43 PM

326Whp Actually

Tuning is great for everything, you will always get more performance out of a tune.

There isn't a single N/A mod (within certain limits and with certain notable exceptions) that REQUIRES a tune.

Certainly nothing discussed in the this thread requires a tune.

will tuning void ECU warranty or any that will be affected by doing it? do you need tuning when you install post-maf tube and cbe? thanks!

Depends on the dealer. The risk is the dealer can say that the ECU is void, and if they choose, also anything else downstream from it (which is tons of stuff). YMMV. It's just a risk and you weigh for your situation.

Do you need a tune with CAI and CBE only? The general answer is that it's not required but wouldn't hurt performance, so it's up to you (a few say you most def don't need it and are better off resetting the ecu).

Add TPs or LTH to that and most say you're now required to get a tune to be safe and keep the engine happy, i.e., fix afr etc.

Hey edub370z

Did you get a tune with this setup? Also do you have any sound clips or drone/rasp issues with the CNT Catback system?

This sounds like the perfect setup for my Z as long as the exhaust sounds good and there's no rasp/drone issues.

Replacing the OEM cats with anything is the big one, making a tune either highly advisable or necessary -- the OEM cats are both the biggest bottleneck in the exhaust system (dramatic change in flow, head temps, etc) as well as monitored constantly by the ECU.

For a CBE, it's not really necessary, nor is it for panel filters and smooth tubes, although you will get better results for both if you do.

If you swap out the factory airboxes entirely (i.e., replace them with after market intakes) its a good idea to get a tune to ensure airflow is being metered properly.

Manifold, HFC, Catback, and tune you're already near $3000 if not more.

Spend a few more and get this.
