Default Injen cold air intake

I am leaning towards the Injen CAI vs the Stillen CAI cause the Stillen I must make mods to the core support and really dont wanna fool with that if i wanna go back stock. the Stillen says 17 to 18 hp and the Injen says 12 to 15. Any opinions on the Injen? also was gonna go with the Black cause I am thinking the polished will be harder to maintain. Thanks for any input. Mez.

Take a look at the Takeda Stage 2 CAI. It is very similar in design as the Stillen G3 and you dont have to make any mods to the core support. No cutting.

One thing to consider with the Injen is placement of the filters. They are low and are susceptible to hydro lock if you drive into a small pond. But if you do not daily your car then you will likely never see a monsoon or flooding on the roadways. So if you primarily drive it in sunny condintions there is absolutely no worries.

How much is Injen. Like speedfreek said, look at Takeda seems to have all the benefits and no minuses.

I have AEM which is down in fenders like Injen, Nismo. But requires moving windshield washer and has a maf signal that needs to be spliced.

Don't you also have to move windshield washer with injen?

The modifications to the support are pretty minor and super easy to do with a dremel and some patience. It's a composite plastic material that machines really easily with a power tool.

Returning to stock isn't affected by the modifications, the stock airbox has little snorkels that go through the holes, the extra space won't bother them.

I know there are people happy with the in-fender solutions, but having bought a similar solution let me say this: Never again.

The numbers are pretty much irrelevant. I feel like stillen embellished their numbers a bit. I had the G3's on my G37 and Injens on my Z. I like em both though but I lean towards injen because I feel air flows more freely towards them. Less obstruction between the filters and open area

The filter placement is only a problem if you drive through a small pond like you said. Do you know anyone who takes their Z through 8 inches of water? I've had the injens for 2 years and daily drive my Z and have had it out in some pretty bad storms with no problems what so ever. The filter placement is no issue

With Injens you will need to fab the washer fluid reservoir. So either way you go you have to mod something. I figure the less I'm doing with hard points like that, the easier it is. With the stillens if you have a keyhole saw or dremel, it will take you seriously only 10 minutes to cut the support. You'll be ok I promise.

Plus, aside from STILLENS advertising, consistently high numbers have been seen with Stillens in independent dynoing. The Injens are a good one to consider, but with the stock front end, I just don't see them getting as much unobstructed airflow.

Other options are the Akuma intakes and AAM Intakes. Both have similar filter placement to the Stillens at a lower cost.

Hence why I said a small pond. But also there have been reports of people having issues driving in heavy rain or their car being rain soaked from sitting outside in heavy rain. Just something to think about if it is used for a daily and you get torrential downpours on the regular.

Either way for my money I would go with the Takeda Stage 2 CAI. Probably in the same ball park as Stillen G3's as far as gains and you don't have to mod or cut anything to install them. Your plastic and washer fluid reservoir are safe.

How many people that have it have ran dynos? Just curious because I haven't seen any posted, or any gains even listed for them..?

That's just it ZERO that I know about at least. But the design is identical minus the filters/filter used. aFe makes some good filters. I don't think it would be considerably less than the Stillen or Injen's.

Sometimes the lack of information, is information in of itself.

Trust me, not all designs are the same, even if they look almost identical.

I'd honestly recommend going with a known, trusted, proven name if you're not fearful of incurring the cost of getting one, not being 100% happy and buying another to replace it.

I fully understand that and the concern that comes with it. I am confident however that aFe teaming with Takeda and then Greddy buying into the design that it will perform with the others.

Just remember that at one point that name was an unkown, untrusted, unproven name that someone took a chance on in the beginning and got good results. Then the masses flocked to it as word got out.

People usually do that when it's a Good word.

I do see that the Greddy design is almost identical to the Takeda design... I wonder if there is some paperwork being exchanged in terms of legality?

If I can find my dyno sheet, ill post it. I made 333 to the wheels on a mustang dyno. Injen, art pipes and mxp exhaust. Ill run it again if i get a chance now that I have my FI exhaust. See if there's and difference.
