To go carbon fiber...or to not!! This is the question

I already have my order with Tony at fast intentions for the stainless steal 18in. CBE and resonated test pipes. I'm now on the fence with whether I want to go carbon fiber mufflers instead. I know it mostly come down to personal preference, but I can't really find any pictures with the carbon fiber on my brilliant silver color. I can picture it in my head and I think it will go will with my light silver color but it's hard to tell if I'll like it better than the stainless steal. What's everyones opinion on the two finishes. Can someone convince me to go with one over the other?

go CF. the sound in my opinion is much better. that also falls on you as well. SS is deeper and CF is more exotic. also the CF looks amazing as well no matter what color Z you have.

Check out Kenchan's albums. He's got a silver with some CF accents, and the CF looks great with that color!

I like my CF, it's a lot more stealth than the bling of SS & it has IMO a better sound. The trade off is they will not take an impact like the SS, so driver attenion is needed at times. ;)

YMMV

Have you heard both side by side with the same setups? I'm not too worried about the durability, I talked to their new guy Blake over at Fast Intentions yesterday and he said durability wise the carbon fiber will last just as long.

if you're not lowered it isnt a problem. i've had mine on for about 16k miles and never hit them once. only imperfection in mine is a small nick on the front edge of the Cf where a rock must have grazed it.

I'll be lowered on swift's by the time the exhaust will go on the car.

It was great talking to you yesterday! You shouldn't be to bad with the swift lowering springs, its a fairly mild drop. I have heard both side by side and FPenvy explained it very well. The CF is slightly higher pitched (not ricey) giving the car a more exotic sound. I am partial to the CF muffler look but I love carbon! Please let me know if you decide to switch to the CF so we can update your invoice. I am confident either way you will love your exhaust! If there is anything else I can do for you please do not hesitate to ask!

Thanks, Blake

I've read a few threads where people have cracked their CF muffler. I'd go with SS just for peace of mind. Like others have mentioned, if you go CF you need to be careful.

There is no reason to say you do not need to be just as careful with the SS and a lowered car. Honestly I cant see the CF being any less durable. If you scrape either one of the can options, you have to expect damage. With the V2 muffler style it seems like most people have no issues as the lowers part of the mufflers sit pretty much inline with the rear axle/tires. I will double check with Tony to make sure I am not missing something about the CF mufflers...
