Z1 side pcv tubes fitments with smooth tubes

Just installed my Z1 post-MAF tubes/K&Ns. Also put on Z1s side/front PCV hoses. Has anyone else noticed that the passenger-side side PCV hose doesnt fit well and actually binds right

Default Z1 side pcv tubes fitments with smooth tubes

Just installed my Z1 post-MAF tubes/K&Ns. Also put on Z1s side/front PCV hoses. Has anyone else noticed that the passenger-side side PCV hose doesnt fit well and actually binds right off the vent?

I dont know if this matters since there are actually 4 breathers, but wanted to get some thoughts.

A few pics. The PCV vent that binds is the one coming off the intake on the passenger side.

Doesn't look like its "binding" to me. Maybe not flush or butting up to. But as long as it stays on I wouldn't worry.

I had the same issue last year when I installed my post-MAF tubes and new hoses, except mine looked to be so "crimped" that it looked completely blocked to me. I contacted Z1 and on the first response they (John Parham) requested pics. I sent the pics and did not hear back from John again, ever. I did get a followup from a lady in their sales office to check to see if I was pleased with my Z1 products a couple days later. Just a routine follow up I guess since she knew nothing about my previous contact and question. I replied that I had a concern about the hose fitment and had sent in a pic as requested. Never heard back from her again either. So I took them off, put the stock breather hoses back on, and the Z1 hoses are taking up space on my workbench in my shed. Don't plan on purchasing from Z1 again.

All of that I guess to say that I know exactly what you are talking about, but I don't have any solution, and evidently neither does Z1.

Wow, that's pretty sorry customer service for a vendor with a generally good rep around here. I'd like to hear their explanation.

Like to correct myself. I see where you say it's binding now. By the crankcase. Thought you were applying at the intake where the two wormgears are.

Noting is perfect in the aftermarket world. Especially when Combing other mods. But that's an easy fix IMO. Just do some readjusting or trim up the hose some. To kink these hose there has to be a good bit of strain that can be released somewhere.

Id actually like for Z1 to chime in since I have posted pics...

Update, after 50 miles of driving I threw P0300 (random/multiple cylinder misfire). So I took the hoses off, cleared my codes, and logged about 100 miles using Torque. No codes so far with the stock breathers.

Now I have no idea how this could cause a misfire, but I suppose it did. I will keep this updated as I log a few more miles.

Thoughts from Z1?

We see nothing has been posted here, but did you hear anything from Z1 by PM/email/other?

No PM or email. I really need to call them up.

Data logged 200 miles last night, no more codes. I have a feeling it was either building up too much pressure, or there was a vacuum leak.

A post-MAF leak could cause a random/multiple as the AFR's would be way off under most load situations.

Logging your AFR's during use would have been useful in diagnosing.

Torque is such an awesome program... I also logged my AFRs, vacuum, load. Actually I logged all the things OBDII would let me. Nothing was out of the ordinary, thats why I was a little confused. But with the stock breathers on everything is fine also and no codes. I believe the misfire was happening at idle (car felt like a Subaru at idle...lol), which would make sense for a vac leak.

I do think there was a vac leak at the point the side breathers come into the intake after the MAF. Not sure how cause the hose clamps were really tight, but then again there was a lot of strain in that passenger side PCV tube...

I had the same issue with my mishimoto intake tubes. The passenger side was tight. What did I do? I cut it with a blade and it fit great.

From the looks of this, one company probably makes the same tubes for everyone and they each just slap their logo on. No other explanation as to how they all have the same issue. (not that this is a bad thing)
