It's funny how a Z forum sometimes makes me think I should go test drive a 5.0, haha. I imagine the power feels awesome, but the handling dynamics (though we know it's faster than a Z) will feel different and probably not as nice.

It FEELS like a boat, but the acceleration is fast, but like a boat as well. At least stock it feels that way.

In a private convo with Chuck, he informed me that a stock 5.0 is faster around one of the Willow tracks than an M3. It probably took a hell of a driver to do that, but it tells you that it is still very capable

Yeah, C&D put up the lap times a few years back. It was eye-opening for a lot of people who thought nothing with a solid rear could turn.

I read that article, I thought the m3 beat it out by .1 seconds or so with the pro-driver. I think the reporter was faster in the 5.0 though. I don't want to drive a boat, though, even if it's a fats one. Plus, looking at it does nothing for me. I do want to feel the acceleration, though.

what was the time on that 5.0 btw...?

I don't see actual lap times didn't check that much in depth but even stock I really haven't seen a 5.0 go faster than m3 in any track in SoCal w similar driver experience

I don't do drag racing. Thats the most boring type of racing there is. I tried it a few times, but its basically a waste of my time, imho. Aside from pro racing teams, I do have the fastest lap times at Road Atlanta, COTA and Barber though, but horsepower probably doesn't have much to do with that.

also, my 5.0 13 mustang with an auto felt slower than my V6 frontier that replaced it.

Boss_302 03-23-2014 08:31 AM

Its amazing how much better the newer Mustangs handle compared to the old Fox body.
Ford finally got it right with the 3-link rear suspension and panhard rod. Chevy had done this years before they went independent on the Camaro . The other thing is there was so much flex in the Fox body chassis. After I welded in full frame connectors it stiffed the chassis up 100%. I could actually lift 3 wheels off the ground while jacking one side. I also notice how much more solid the car felt on road and the difference in handling. With all the suspension work I had into the car I could now put the car anywhere.

Drive what you like...there is a guy with a vw bettle and a neon that will annihilate just about any street car that is not in the 10s...I dont like mustangs, my turboed , Z loves them :). Anyway I will be dynoing my 370 with a bp kit and these headers if they do not help like they did with the momentum kits they coming off and I will return to the original kit design instead of my modified version and someone can have a lightly used set a a killer price...but they look great in the engine bay....

judging by the death of this thread, i am assuming people's expectations were not met with these headers, sales dropped off, and there will be no version that mates up with the 370 cats?

These headers are still setting records for na power. They never really made an official thread .. I would assume they are still selling well. As far as hr/vhr flanges... That is provably best left for z1 to answer.

LMAO Li, jst go with a SC already/:iagree: with 2sl0w

Still set the record, and Z1 has been so busy making other awesome products as well.
The thing that makes it IMO is that Z1 put their money where their mouth is by offering that 400 BHP package. Yeah, it has some caveats, but if you wanted that power, you'd have already gone with that stuff anyways. Also, a LOT of people aren't on this forum that buy Z1's products. I can't imagine it's more than 30%, so reviews will be hard to come by.
