issue & rasp after ART pipes
So first thing I noticed after install was the hollow metallic sound when stepping on the gas full throttle. I just assume this is normal when switching out from a cat.
the second thing is that there is clearly an audible hiss sound when letting of the gas. I thought I had read in other threads there was no rasp/hiss with these pipes...if I would have known there was I wouold have just saved the money and bought straight test pipes. Third is that when I stomp on it in first, there is something making a noise from underneath the car. I did not cut the bolt on the driver side per instructions, so I will assume it is that hitting on the top of the test pipe. |

so i got under the car and saw that the heat shield on the driver side was making contact with the test pipe at the elbow. i simply made a cut into the heat shield and bent it out of the way, problem solved.
I still have the very metallic sound when accelerating and the hiss when letting off the throttle. Is this normal with ART pipes or will it go away after the pipes break in and get some carbon built up? |

The only way to get rid of that metallic sound is to wrap it in header wrap .. I had the same issue and after the wrap problem solved ..

There's hiss with test pipes. There's hiss with art pipes. There's a bit of hiss with HFCs.
It's an inherent characteristic of opening up the VQ37. As far as a metallic sound, is there any way you can take a video? |

As far as is it worth it...definetly, the power pickup is awesome. if every mod felt like this I would be a happy camper. |

Y-pipe, are you running the stock exhaust? I have the art pipes and invidia exhaust and am not experiencing any of these issues. The hiss as everyone will tell you will always be present, however after a few hundred miles I do not hear it as much on decal as I did when first installed.

I have ART pipes and I only here it hiss when it cold (in the 20s), but I have no hiss, drone or rasp with either the stock exhaust or my current AAM dual exhaust. I went with ART pipes specifically to minimize rasp and drone, but hiss, I didn't see it as an issue. As everyone said...TP hiss.

I called a shop today (Lutz Performance in Tampa, Florida) and they wanted $200 to put exhaust wrap on the test pipes because they said they would have to take the pipes back off in order to wrap them. I asked why and they said "how else are you going to get the exhaust wrap roll around the pipes"
I said I would just do it myself. |

Is 2" exhaust wrap too wide for the bend in the test pipes?
And is 15ft enough for both pipes? I found this: http://www.jegs.com/i/DEI/186/010129/10002/-1?sendroicid=bbef8492-2d00-41d6-b158-38db0de2603c&catargetid=1716046196&sendroikwd={key word}&gclid=CJHR0cCB37QCFRQcnAodfQcATw |
