I had ARTs with FI and no metal sound. Car just constantly went SHHHHHHH WHEN I'd slow down.

I liked the combo. Went with FI LTH over the weekend and wish I had just bought them from the start.

The power and sound with the ART's was nice, with the FI LTH...10x better.

OEM Y or aftermarket with larger diameter pipes?

If the latter, yep... it's the Y's.

It is VERY hard to change anything on the exhaust side of VQ37HR without at least some rasp or hiss.

Best combos I have found thus far in terms of very minimal/negligible rasp or hiss are either Nismo S-tune + resonated TP's (although the S-tune exhaust is really not that great for power and the Y-pipe was prone to cracking...) or PPE LTH + Nismo take off exhaust (the one with the H-pipe).

May sound like a dumb question but did your mechanic check to make sure there is a solid connection between the Y pipes are Art pipes and that the gasket is sitting flush? Possible excess vibration could cause it.

We've had problem with a customer's car here because the Y pipe bolts was cracked between the flanges. It wasn't leaking however it was vibrating.

i have a 2010 G37S and my ARK HFCs (look exactly like art pipes) sound great but do have that annoying metallic sound when i floor it around 3-3.5K rpms. no hiss and sounds great on decel and everything else

One suggestion to minimize any rattling would be to make "washers" out of some heavy duty rubber hose -- like intake coupler hose -- cut two pieces, and figure out a way to mount it where the TP's contact the frame. The rubber will cushion the vibrations and quiet them.

This may or may not work if that OEM cross member that went across the OEM cats was removed... the trick will be finding a place to secure them where they won't melt against the pipe...

It might be a little off topic but are these illegal? can you get a fine for having them?

RoadsterST 05-22-2014 07:13 PM

Any removal of factory emmisions is illegal. BUT.. in Texas, as long as the emmisions test only consists of the OBD scan you're fine, assuming your MIL is not on. Not sure about other states

Did anyone manage to eliminate the Metallic Rattle sound?????

RoadsterST 05-29-2014 11:24 PM

I talked to Tony at Motordyne and was told unless I go with a full Motordyne exhaust the slight rasp will not go away. Something about the art pipes being TUNED to the rest of the exhaust.
