Takeda Attack CAI
I've read a couple threads on the Takada CAI decided that was the one for me and started to price them.. Most online stores sell them around $495. I found one store selling it for $160 less?? The stock picture shows proper intake and item number reflects correct number but wondering if they are mixed up with the short ram intake which sells for this range....
Takeda Cold Air Intake Nissan 370Z 3.7L V6 2009-2012 2010 2011 TA-3017P Thoughts? Additionally I've browsed the forum for intake dyno results from members but no luck.. Any gains over Stillen G3 (dynoed proof) |

Biggest "advantage" it has is that you don't have to cut anything to install them and the filter is a "dry" filter...
I have the G3's and would never get anything different |
I got the system and installed it myself. It was really nice not having to cut. However, when you install it, you have to squeeze the silicone linking tubing through the radiator support which deforms it and decreases its cross section. This is the only real flaw IMO. If you are okay with cutting and don't mind the extra hundred or so bucks, the Gen 3 is better because you don't get this squeezing. Akuma's also looks nice, similar price range, with some good numbers, but you'd need a tune after.

You can check my thread here for dyno results. Unfortunately I don't have stand alone results for the CAI only.
http://www.the370z.com/tuning/61634-...cargarage.html I would say if you are installing yourself and don't want to cut your car up get the Takeda's, but otherwise I agree with DarkJak that the design is quite questionable, since you are decreasing the diameter of stock intake by shoving silicone tube through the stock opening, but I'm no CAI expert. |
FYI The Takeda CAI are not smog legal as of yet. They are pending approval.

What if I were to buy this intake and still cut the opening so it doesn't have to squeeze through, you think that will increase the airflow and add some more power?

While circumference stays the same, the cross-sectional area will be reduced, guaranteed. A circle has the best area/perimeter ratio. Anything else would have less area. I'm probably going to go back one day and dremel the support out to allow the tubing to expand more.

They are now $439, a solid $110 under the G3s...worth it?
|
Yep, worth it. Really enjoying the setup.

Wow they just recently upped the price. They were 350 from that same website not 2 weeks ago!

Regarding those results. Looks like the Ark exhaust flows better than the Berks (if ever so slightly) Though he says the Takeda didn't gain much over the ARK+ tuning, torque and power under the curve is noticeably up. I figure with the ARK put back on, it would put up better figures. Just my thoughts.

You can get them under 400 usually? I got mine for 378 shipped on Black Friday.
