Invidia Q300 Catback + Berk High Flow Cats installed.. disappointed..
High quality versions will be available soon once Youtube catches up with the process..
Sorry about the sound quality, I think my tripod covers up the microphone some. You'll have to crank up the speakers im sure. Cold start with a little revving.. Cold Start Exhaust Video Warmed up all the way with some revving.. Warmed up Exhaust Video Really disappointed with the sound of the Invidia.. it's horrible over 4k.. lots of rasp, sounds pretty crappy, like a cheap exhaust is installed.. Maybe the Berk HFCs make it sound like this =( People might want to stay away from this combination of parts if they value higher quality sound out of their exhaust. It sounds good up to 4k, then this loud metallic rasp takes over. Not only that, the cars feels SLOWER than just having intakes =( And i'm 99% sure there are no leaks.. we had the car up on a lift to check for leaks and did a pretty thorough job of checking. Thoughts? Jay |
Something is seriously wrong there...
i though it sounded like **** from the videos posted here too.......sell it for a berk!
Yeah alot of the G37 guys have the same problem, it sounds like ewwwwwww :(

Invidia exhaust are known for their fine built quality with rasp sound!!! My friend has Invidia exhaust for his Acura RSX, and it was raspy. It really doesnt suprise me that you have the similar sound. Haven't you done a research/youtube and listened before purchasing this exhaust? |
Yeah I listened to the videos of other owners with Invidia and theirs didn't sound like this! I almost think I might have an exhaust leak now under WOT and partial throttle because if I slowly rev up, it sounds good.. anything more it starts to sound like butt =(
ArticReaver needs to check in and give me some thoughts! |
It's probably the HFCs... they will make the car sound more raw/raspy and if the CBE already does it with stock cats then you get this.
Crap.. It really makes the car sound crappy.. and why it's feeling slow is beyond me too. Guess i'll consider selling now.

Thanks for the info!
I just bought the exhaust and thought it was better then stock but still mild so Berk HFCs was next on my list. I wonder if headers would help out the situation at all??? I'll still try the combo then just get another exhaust if need be since I got a good deal on this exhaust! We'll see! |
Did Eddie Murphy put a banana in your tailpipe?
Ewwwwwwww :shakes head:
Although there is some rasp, I think the majority of the noise is due to something loose. You can hear the ringing which means something is not tight. Did you check all the rubber hangers, gaskets between pipes, etc?
Nothing is loose guys.. it's how the exhaust sounds.. I crawled underneath and re-torqued all bolts and checked all gaskets for any blow-by. Nothing, looks clean..
While driving I know the rasp is definately coming out of the tailpipes only, no weird sounds from anywhere else on the car.. I'm going to give it about 2 weeks and i'll repost a video and see if there's a difference. Also, I was remembering there were a lot of packing peanuts that got inside the HFCs during shipping, I hope I didn't accidently leave 1 inside one of the HFCs! Could be the horrible smell i'm still getting! Lol.. oh well, it'll burn out. |

Watch/listen to this vid.. my car pretty much sounds the same under load YouTube - INVIDIA EXHAUST FOR INFINITI G37 from AMPLIFIED MOTORSPORT part 2
You can hear the rasp, it's just not very mean sounding I guess. |
Yeah, it's just a very crappy sounding exhaust to begin with (though some people like it.) It has a lot of rasp with stock cats so HFCs or test pipes are just going to amplify that effect.
Usually the cat-backs that do the best with HFCs or test pipes are the ones that sound the smoothest on the stock cats... take for instance the Stillen, FI, and most likely Berk CBEs. Those systems are very smooth and refined when bolted to the stock cats. If you want to be more aggressive while still sounding very good you add the HFCs or test pipes to that setup. But if the CBE is raspy to begin with... no dice. It will probably sound like ***. Your best bet would be just to swap the CBE out with something better. |
If I were in your shoes I'd reinstall the stock CBE to the HFCs. That will actually sound pretty good. Then you can sell the Invidia and buy something else.
invidia sounds like crapola on these cars...as most exhaust systems do...

def not diggin the sound...invidia's sound better on Honda's..you need a quality exhaust for a quality car..take off the cat back..sell it and buy berks
It actually sounds like me stillen exhaust when I removed the rear muffler section. It makes me think invidia should have went with two mufflers in back like Stillen did.
Day 3 so far.. exhaust might actually be improving.. sounds more smooth, and less raspy while driving around. Still a bit rasptastic under load.

Still raspy over 2 weeks later.. don't hold your breath on it getting better :( Oh well, not like I drive the Z everyday now.
like this i guess, that is rattle-tastic!!
^I like the sound of that but when the Berk HFC's were installed it doesn't sound the same. Hey Diversion any way you can tape a fly by to compare to the video above? It's hard to hear your exhaust just revving in the garage.
that would be a good compare
Yikes...thats almost bad enough to get your money back...
don't even bother with the breakin. That catback will never sound good on your car.
wow that sounds bad.
