Thinking about doing DE headers
Hey guys, before I start I wanted to say Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to everyone. I have a set for FI DE resonated test pipes from my old car (g35), I saw that some guys use DE headers with DE cats/tp/hfc on our cars. I wanted to know how is the fitment? gains? would you recommend it? Or should I sell my test pipes and get headers for a HR motor? From what I researched the gains on headers/test pipe are one of the greatest ways to get power on N/As
Thank you

Best bet is to call Z1 and find out the necessary details.

All DE style headers 'should' work on a 370Z. I will not say this with 100% certainty because we have not tried all available options. In theory, they should work. The key factor is that you must also purchase a set of DE style High Flow Cats, OEM Catalytic Converters or DE Test Pipes. The 3-bolt flange on the VQ37VHR headers' collector is different in shape than VQ35DE. However, the Test Pipe portion, when coupled with the headers, matches the 370Z perfectly. This same can be said in reverse configuration if attempting to put 370Z headers/test pipes onto a DE-style 350Z.
The Momentum Headers are one of the best on the market. Other DE style headers like those from Tomei Powered and so forth are also equally impressive in quality, but have not been tested on a 370Z. We were investigating a few ideas when we discovered the gains brought about by using the Momentum Headers and were impressed. |

Sorry for the dumb question, but what does DE stand for? Also, DE headers fit on the 370, and you need DE style test pipes, but do the DE style test pipes fit on the 370z CBE? If so could anyone make any reccomendations on what brand is closest to Momentum? Thanks!

The 350z used the VQDE engine until it changed to the VQHR in 2007 I believe. Research my friend - Nissan VQ engine - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

basically you will be experimenting. the momentum headers may just be a special case for power gains but like said earlier, no one has experimented. other then momentum, there really is no reason to not just stick with 370z headers unless you want to be the one to experiment and dump money. the momentum header is very well built with an awesome collector. better then 90% of the 370z headers out there. other then that, the only real difference is flanges. if youve got time and money to burn then by all means enjoy. but 6-10 hours of labor, i would hate to be the one to research if it doesnt have any gains or if it doesnt fit to put the stock back on. my suggestions is momentum headers or just stick with 370z headers.

Here is the best picture I have of mine. In between the pipes on the flange, will have the letter "M" etched into it.

Those are it! I'm pretty excited to get everything. I am also getting a used FI exhaust, and was wondering the best place to get all the gaskets from engine back. Any input?

Heres some shots of my headers also before they went on. You can definitively see the "M" in my picture
