[HELP] Is this Intake stock?

3 Attachment(s)
Really odd question but I noticed today that my intake tubes are metal. I thought that all stock came with that ugly black piping??

So anyways I was wondering if anyone could help me figure out what it is without me having to start removing things. I can barely see the pod filters and it says Stillen on the "Air box"

Edit: I got a look a the pod filter and I guess its a gen 2 so I'm wondering if it's worth swapping it out for a gen 3?

I was planning to do this in a few weeks anyways but then I saw these... Is it worth it?

IMO totally worth it if you want the most gains with a CAI

Keep an eye on the classifieds for a used set to save some money

Looks like Stillen Gen 2, Gen 3 is definetely worth it.. about double the horsepower of the gen 2s.

The gen 3's are kind of pricey, but you could probably get some of that back if you sell the gen 2s on your car. Just realize that installing the gen 3s requires removal of the bumper and some minor cutting. If you're not comfortable with that, I would just live with the gen 2s and call it a day.

Yeah I know that the installation is some what tedious but I think I might go ahead and get the gen3 and then focus on trying to sell my gen 2. It didn't really hit me that I had an aftermarket intake already until just a few days ago when I was messing around under the week and decided to start taking some things apart.

I'll let you guys know what I decide to do.

-Thanks

I bought my car preowned from a dealer in Indiana, came with gen 3s installed already. Knew nothing about it until my steering lock failed and went online to figure it out (finding this forum) and ultimately realized what they were not stock.

Kinda crazy to see a similar story.

I think the Stillen logo gave it away lol.

Yeah I thought so too, but it also has a Stillen exhaust so I thought that it just came with both of them I guess. The dealership said the car wasn't modified but I guess I'm glad that they were wrong..

Personally, I would save the money. The Gen 3's arent going to give you much gains once any additional breathing mods are added. To me, the cost vs. reward doesnt add up...

I thought gen 2's are rated @14hp and gen3 @ 18hp? Sounds like a long way to make it to double power.

On another note

Filters and intake hoses, long tube headers and exhaust is worth way more as a breathing mod over the typical intake and exhaust... If trying to stay legal, hfc and exhaust. Stillen intakes don't do much of shyt by themselves except give you dyno numbers you barely feel unless you're up past 5000 rpm. hoses and filters keep some of your torque intact on the low end.
